Happy 4th from our little corner of history. 🇺🇸

The Sun Inn on Main Street in Bethlehem hosted Washington, Franklin, Hancock, and Lafayette — members of the Continental Congress even stayed there when they fled Philadelphia in 1777.

It’s been standing since 1758. Built by Moravian craftsmen who clearly knew what they were doing.

That’s the thing about building well. It outlasts you. It becomes part of the story.

Wishing you a weekend full of family, fireworks, and maybe a little appreciation for the buildings that have seen it all.

There's a difference between hiring a designer and a builder separately, and hiring one team that does both.

A lot of beautiful kitchens get made with separate teams. The designer drafts the space, hands off the drawings. A construction company comes in and builds it. Two skilled professionals, two scopes, one project.

What's harder to see at the start is the gap between them.

There are schedules to coordinate, and design ideas have to be translated into what can actually be built.

During a design phase, questions come up- like moving plumbing or discovering a wall is load bearing, but when your designer and contractor pull as one team these issues are handled quickly and seamlessly.

Design-build doesn't eliminate these moments. The difference is the back-and-forth happens inside one team, on a shared schedule, with no handoffs in the middle.

That's the kind of difference that matters.

3 Things I'd include in every custom kitchen.

An appliance pantry. The toaster, the blender, the air fryer- everything tucked behind a door. Counter stays clear, and the kitchen feels calmer and less cluttered, even on busy days.

A statement hood. Whether it's custom millwork, or metal, the hood naturally becomes the focal point of the kitchen, grounding the whole space.

There’s a point in almost every renovation where the space starts to shift.

Three weeks in: walls down, framing up, plastic still taped over the doorways.

It’s a moment that catches people off guard. Demo is supposed to be the part you push through — the dust, the noise, the disruption to daily life. Most people brace for it.

What they don't expect is the day they walk into the space and see it. Not the renovation as a problem to live through, but the new room starting to show up. You walk in and it stops feeling like just a job site — and starts feeling like a space revealing itself. Light where there used to be walls. Views you didn’t have before. Rooms that already feel more open, even though nothing is finished yet.

The mess is still there. The mess hasn’t changed. What changes is perspective. What felt like demolition starts to read like possibility.

Some find this stage stressful. Some love it. Thank you for clients who trust us through it!

Custom means the fridge and dishwasher are paneled to match the rest of the kitchen, so they quietly blend into the cabinetry instead of standing out.

Inside the drawers, everything has its place: pull-outs sized for cutting boards, dividers built for that exact silverware set, and a spice rack scaled to your needs—not just generic inserts that are only half-fit.

The most important part of a kitchen renovation is the part you can't see.

The cabinets get all the attention. The countertops, the tile, the hardware. Beautiful, of course, but what gets decided behind the walls and at the layout stage is equally as important.

It's the little things that matter. Where the prep zone lands relative to the cooktop. Whether two people can be in the kitchen at the same time without crowding each other. How far the trash pull-out is from the sink. Whether the small appliances live somewhere reachable or not in the kitchen entirely.

These sound like boring details, but they're the difference between a kitchen that looks beautiful and one that looks beautiful and functions even better.

The countertops will photograph beautifully either way. Whether the kitchen feels good is decided long before the slab gets picked.

We were honored to be featured in Lehigh Valley Style discussing accessible design and the role, thoughtful planning plays in creating homes that are both beautiful and easy to live in.

Accessible design isn’t just about mobility - it’s about creating spaces that function effortlessly for everyone in everyday life.

Accessible design shouldn’t be obvious but it does need to be intentional.

And the great thing? Many accessible features are also luxurious! We are talking about spacious hallways, zero entry showers and custom cabinetry.
