9 YEARS IN BUSINESS!!!

Well, we’ve officially survived 9 years of doing business… which means we must be doing something right! Aaannnddd Russ has been doing this HVAC thing for TWENTY NINE years!! That's a LOT of knowledge and hard work.

On these super hot 95-100°F days we get a lot of calls where people say... my thermostat is set to 70° but my house is still 75° and won't get any cooler!

That's pretty normal and here's why--

The outdoor temperature determines how effectively your air conditioner can get rid of the heat it removes from inside your home.

The condenser releases that heat into the outdoor air. When it's cooler outside, the condenser can release heat more easily, allowing the AC to cool your home more efficiently. As the outdoor temperature rises, it becomes harder for the system to reject heat, so its cooling capacity decreases.

For example:
** 90°F outside: Many systems can maintain around 70°F indoors.

** 95°F outside: Most systems are designed to maintain about 75°F indoors.

** 105°F outside: The same system may only be able to maintain 80–85°F.

This is especially problematic if the home has poor insulation, high sun exposure, frequent door openings, or you have an older system.

A common misconception is that an air conditioner can cool a home to any temperature. In reality, most properly sized residential systems are designed to maintain an indoor temperature that's about 20°F cooler than the outdoor temperature under peak design conditions. On extremely hot days, expecting much more than that may not be realistic.

The bottom line is: the hotter it gets outside, the harder your AC has to work, and the warmer the indoor temperature it can realistically maintain.

That's why an air conditioner may keep up perfectly on a 90°F day but struggle to reach the thermostat setting on a 100°F day, even when it's operating correctly!

Here are a couple things you can do to give your system a helping hand--

** Check your filter. Has it been 30 days or more since you changed it? 1" filters should be changed monthly. Use a MERV 8 filter and avoid HEPA or allergen filters.

** Check the cleanliness of your outdoor condenser. Is the unit dirty with dust and debris? Clean it off! Or give us a call and we'll do it for you!

** Keep foliage a good distance away from the outdoor unit. Give that baby room to breathe!!

** Close your blinds and curtains. Especially on west facing walls in the afternoons!
