🌸 First Day of Spring… or False Start? (Colorado Edition 😅) 🌸

We made it! Warmer days are (hopefully) here… which means it’s almost time to fire up that AC for the first time since last summer. Before you flip that switch, here are a few quick tips to make sure your system is ready to go:

-Change Your Air Filter
A clean filter = better airflow, improved efficiency, and less strain on your system. Use MERV 5 or 8 rated filters. Avoid any filter labeled "Allergen" or "HEPA".

-Clear Around Your Outdoor Unit
Remove leaves, debris, and anything that piled up over winter. Give it at least 2 feet of breathing room.

-Check Your Thermostat
Switch it to cooling mode and make sure it’s working properly.

-Inspect Vents & Registers
Make sure they’re open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.

-Schedule a Tune-Up
A quick professional check can catch small issues before they turn into expensive repairs—especially before the first heat wave hits.

We spent the last 4 days in Las Vegas at the AHR Expo, one of the largest expos in the world, learning all we could about HVAC! There was 1800 exhibitors and over 50,000 attendees!
It was massive, super educational, and we are wiped out!!
We met up with our good friends Scott and Michelle, owners of McCreery and Sun, and even did a little tourist-ing since we took our oldest son Hunter and his girlfriend Samantha too.
It was an amazing week, but we are glad to be home!

❗️ Attention Colorado Homeowners! Important Update on Furnace & Water Heater Laws❗️

On January 1, 2026, Colorado rolled out new state regulations that impact how furnaces and water heaters are sold and installed in our state. Here’s what you need to know:

🔹 New Emission Standards:
All new gas furnaces and water heaters sold in Colorado must meet Energy Star Rating or Ultra-Low NOx (nitrogen oxide) emission standards.

🔹 What It Means for You:
✔️ You do NOT have to replace existing equipment that’s working fine — the law only applies when new equipment is sold or installed.
✔️ Older models that don’t meet the new standards won’t be allowed for sale or installation once current stock is gone.
✔️ If your system is currently propane, and 80% efficient, when inventory is gone, you will be forced to install a 96%+ efficient system. There are no other options for propane. This will mean new venting too, which will increase the cost.

🔹 Costs & Availability: Because the new compliant furnaces have advanced emission technology, they will be more expensive and have fewer models available than older units.

👉 Thinking about replacing your furnace soon? Now might be a great time to plan a tune-up or installation before inventory runs out — it could help you save money and secure older model pricing if your current system is nearing the end of its life.
