Seeing my story included in a children’s book is a special honor!
Thank you to the Flinn Foundation, Art State Arizona, and the Flinn-Brown community for including me among the 15 Fellows featured in Arizona’s Everyday Heroes.
This recognition belongs with the family, mentors, and community members who have helped shape my journey. I carry their teachings and my Hopi values with me: care for others, honor your responsibilities, and work together for the good of the community.
My hope is that children reading this book—especially Native children—see that their stories matter, too. You have something valuable to share, and you can make a difference right where you are.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey. I’m grateful. ❤️

Thank you to the Hopi Credit Association and the organizers of the 3rd Annual Hopi Economic Summit for inviting me to deliver the opening keynote and facilitate conversations with participants on September 28.

“Our Presence Makes Our Community Complete” guided our time together as we shared stories, explored building businesses on Indigenous values, and considered how we can strengthen the Hopi economy.

The participants made these conversations meaningful! Your ideas, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to our communities left me excited about what comes next. There is so much possibility in bringing our knowledge and strengths together—supporting one another’s businesses, creating opportunities for our young people, and building an economy grounded in Hopi values and community responsibility.

At Melvin Consulting, we believe business success includes what we contribute to our people and the generations to come. Thank you to everyone who shared their voice and vision. The next generation begins with us!
