The Nucor Technical Academy is a technical training program designed to teach maintenance fundamentals and to train a person with a high school diploma (or GED) to the level of a maintenance electrician within a two year training period. The training program is a compilation of education, culture, ideas and current training programs that exist throughout Nucor. This training provides the necessary classroom instruction and includes structured hands-on training to ensure the person is prepared to enter the workforce as a Maintenance Electrician. Responsibilities will include hands-on assignments working with experienced Nucor Maintenance Team Members.

*Note: The Nucor Technical Academy is located and administered at Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Selected candidates will begin academic coursework online and participate in limited on-the-job training at their sponsoring Nucor division in the first summer and initial fall. Candidates will relocate to Tuscaloosa before the initial spring semester where they will remain for five continuous semesters. While in Tuscaloosa, candidates will take technical courses and participate in on-the-job training at Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa. Selected candidates will have opportunities to return to sponsoring divisions in between semesters until graduation

As summer comes to a close, we want to give a heartfelt farewell to another one of our fantastic interns, Micah Breaud. Over the summer, Micah has truly become a valued teammate here at Nucor General Recycling. From day one, he was warmly welcomed into our General Recycling family, seamlessly integrating with both the maintenance and production teams.

Micah’s time with us was marked by his quick grasp of the importance of safety and teamwork. He embraced our commitment to working together to achieve our common goal: becoming the world's safest steel company. His dedication and enthusiasm have made a real difference, and we’ve loved having him on our team.

Exciting news! Nucor Steel Jackson teamed up with Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation for a truly impactful project!

Our donation of steel has been instrumental in the construction of Mississippi's first year-round camp facility for children and adults with diverse physical and mental challenges. This groundbreaking initiative has been made possible through the Department of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training program, which mobilized skilled personnel from the Army Reserve, Air National Guard, and Marine Reserve to help bring this vision to life.

The steel from Nucor Steel Jackson has been used to create a vital bridge leading campers to the equestrian field and various obstacle courses. We're immensely proud to have contributed materials that not only bridge gaps in our community but also support real-world training for our brave US Military forces.
