It’s getting warm, remember to change your filters. Dirty filters cause drain restrictions, dirty evaporator coils which require expensive cleaning service, causes your system to work harder & your electric bill to be higher.

If you change your filters& it’s starting to get fuzzy, you need to change them more often.

Truly, you have to love Texas weather. If you don’t, give it a minute.

Customers with Heatpumps should be on the look out for “Stinky sock syndrome.” I didn’t name it, you can look it up. When your system is switching between heat & cool it produces a good environment for bacterial growth on your coils that causes the dank, musky smell. Sometimes this will resolve itself in a few days of a/c operations. Other times we are needed to spray down the coils or check on other indoor air quality options. Let us know if we can be of service.

The cold is back……
Ok, it’s not as bad as the sketch, but there are still a couple things to remember.

- Make sure your filter is clean, dirty filters reduce air flow & cause unnecessary problems on your system & electric bills.
- If you have a heat pump system, this is when your Auxiliary (or emergency) heat is needed. When temperatures are below 30, there is not enough heat outside for the system to transfer. Sometimes they will freeze up outside unit (if sensors are not installed or working). Sometimes they will just not be capable of maintaining the house temperature. Remember to return your thermostat to normal heat when it gets above 32 degrees; It does cost more to run electric heat kits than to operate in normal heat pump mode.
