📸 CAMERA ROLL ROULETTE

Today’s number: 424

Whatever photo or video is sitting at that number in my camera roll, I’m posting it.

No picking. No staging. No overthinking it.

We’re not trying to force an ad into your feed every day. This is just a random look at the life of a contractor and everything that comes along with it.

It could be a finished project, a jobsite disaster, something halfway through construction, lunch from three months ago, or something completely unrelated. 😂

Whatever it is, I’m posting it. And I'll give you the story behind it, because there's usually one.

🎲 Today’s pull: #424

Apparently, our cleaning crew also offers DJ services. 🎶😂

Last summer, a client was building a beautiful new home from the ground up and brought Ardeca Construction in to handle all the finishing work.

The project came out absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful floors, stunning staircases, clean finishes, and all those little details that make a brand-new house feel like a luxury home.

Once everything was completed, our cleaning crew came in to give the house its final cleaning before the big reveal.

A little while later, they sent me this video showing off the finished product.

Now, normally, these videos are pretty straightforward. A nice, quiet walkthrough showing how everything turned out.

Not this one. 😂

I hit play and immediately felt like I had accidentally walked into a nightclub.

The music was SO loud and SO close to the microphone that I'm convinced whoever was filming had a 1980s boombox hanging around their neck.

I'm picturing someone walking through this beautiful, freshly finished house with a mop in one hand, a phone in the other, and a full DJ setup strapped to their chest. 🎧🤣

I have no idea what was going on, but I'll tell you one thing...

The house was spotless, the finishes looked amazing, and apparently the cleaning crew had an absolute blast.

And you know what? After all the hard work that goes into finishing a house like this, a little celebration is probably deserved.

Just maybe turn the volume down before the homeowners move in. 😂

Another beautiful Ardeca project, another completely random camera roll discovery.

Meet my temporary office manager. 🐈‍⬛

A while back, the internet at our office went down. Naturally, the internet company informed us it would take a day or two to fix.

Perfect. Because who needs internet when you're trying to run a construction company? 🙄

So I packed up my laptop, headed to a local coffee shop, ordered a coffee, and attempted to get some work done using their WiFi.

That's when this little guy showed up.

No introduction. No interview. No résumé.

Just walked over, sat down next to me, and apparently decided we were working together that day.

And I'm not exaggerating... this cat sat with me the ENTIRE time. 😂

I took phone calls, answered emails, worked on estimates, and handled everything I needed to get done.

He supervised.

Occasionally he'd look at me like he was questioning my pricing, but otherwise, excellent employee.

Didn't ask for a paycheck. Didn't complain about the hours. Didn't even take a lunch break.

Honestly, one of the most reliable coworkers I've ever had. 😂

Only problem is, I never got his name, so I have absolutely no idea who to put on payroll.

Just another completely random day in the life of a contractor.

A beautiful screenshot of a package delay. Really captures the craftsmanship. 😂

People think a contractor’s camera roll is all kitchens, bathrooms, and finished projects.

It’s also 400 screenshots of tracking updates we saved like we were building a case for the FBI.

“On the way.”
Great. So am I. WHERE ARE WE GOING? 📦

My favorite part is the “Change My Delivery” button.

Yes. I’d like to change it to yesterday, please.

I don’t even remember what was in this package, but apparently it was important enough to photograph its failure to arrive.

Just another behind-the-scenes moment at ARDECA Construction. Some days we build beautiful things. Some days we refresh a tracking page like it owes us money. 🤣

These were from when we were going through our rebrand and trying to choose new hats for ARDECA.

For a brief moment, we became a very serious panel of construction professionals judging hats like it was Fashion Week.

Too plain. Too weird. Too stiff. Too sporty. Too “looks great until you actually put it on.” 😂

We lined them up, checked colors, fit, style - the whole thing.
And after all that?

None of these won.

That’s how this stuff goes sometimes. You think you’re one decision away from the perfect branded hat… and instead you end up with a table full of finalists that all get eliminated. 🤣

Still, it was all part of building the brand and figuring out exactly how we wanted ARDECA to look and feel.

Sometimes the work is job sites and construction.
Sometimes it’s standing around debating hats like it’s a life-changing decision.

👇 The story behind the picture:

To our loyal fans… sorry for a boring morning. 😂

I would make up an exciting story about this picture, but I have absolutely no idea what house this even was.

Usually this is where I tell you what the homeowner wanted, what went wrong, or/and how beautiful everything turned out.

Today, I can confidently confirm that I had my phone with me.

That’s all I’ve got. 🤷‍♂️

I made the rules. Now we all have to suffer through them.

If this is your house, please identify yourself so I can pretend I remembered the whole time. 😂

Another house right on the water. Two days in a row. What are the chances? 😂

At this point, my camera roll is trying to convince everyone we spend our days enjoying waterfront properties.

Meanwhile, we’re carrying materials, looking for the pencil we JUST had, and eating lunch standing up.

But this deck? With that view, the black railings, and those lighted post caps?

Suddenly, “I’m going to sit outside for five minutes” turns into your family reporting you missing. 🤣

You could put a single folding chair out here and still feel like you made it in life. 🍹🌊

The kind of place where you go out to check the weather and come back three hours later with a drink and absolutely no updates on the weather.

And once those post lights come on, forget it. Now you have an excuse to stay out all night.

“We should probably head inside.”

“Let’s give it another ten minutes.”

That was four ten minutes ago. 😂

Another beautiful spot in the Ardeca camera roll. And yes, we eventually packed up and went home.

Even though this one makes a strong case for staying.

Moral of today’s roulette:
We can build you a beautiful deck. Getting you to come back inside is your family’s problem. 🤣

Some people look at their roof and think, “Probably need to check those shingles.”

These homeowners in Sea Bright looked at theirs and thought, “We should be having dinner up there.” 😂

And with a view of the Navesink River like this, honestly, they had a point.

So we helped turn the top of their house into a luxury rooftop hangout, complete with an outdoor kitchen, pergola, a full seating area, etc.

Basically, the house got its own upstairs vacation home.

The kind of place where you invite a few friends over for burgers and suddenly everyone’s wearing linen and asking what time the sunset is. 🤣

Of course, rooftop construction also means every tool and material has to make the trip up.

Forget something in the truck? Congratulations. You’re doing cardio now.

We build the kitchens. We build seating areas; but on this one, we also built calves we never asked for. 😂

But seeing it all come together with that river view made every trip worth it.

The only problem with a rooftop like this is getting your guests to leave.

You can turn off the grill.
You can put away the food.
Somebody’s still sitting there saying, “Let’s just wait for the lights on the water.”

Buddy, you got here at two. 🤣

Moral of today’s roulette:
Before you book a vacation, check upstairs. You might just need a contractor.

We’re currently building this custom pergola, and it’s coming out great.

A pergola is a funny thing. You start out wanting a little shade, and before you know it, you’re standing in the backyard saying:

“We could put a couch here. Maybe a dining table over there. Actually… should we get an outdoor kitchen?” 🤣

Now the backyard has a better floor plan than the living room.

We’re still working on this one, but it’s already becoming the kind of spot where “I’m just going outside for a minute” turns into three hours and somebody bringing you a plate.

That’s the goal. Build something so good that going back inside feels like a downgrade. 😂

Can’t wait to show you this one finished!

Moral of today’s roulette:
We build the pergola. Explaining why you suddenly need all new patio furniture is between you and your spouse. 🤣

We got a call from a family we’d never worked with because a few stones in their shower floor had started coming loose.

“A few loose stones” sounds innocent enough.

In contractor language, it means: “Bring your tools. Let’s see how deep this plot goes.” 😂

We removed what needed to come out, properly prepped the area, reset the stone, and finished everything up. The shower looked great again, and the stones officially retired from their careers as bathroom gravel.

Apparently, we passed the test, because that little shower repair turned into a bunch of other projects around the house.

It started with loose stones and graduated to the most powerful sentence in home improvement:

“Alright… while you’re here…” 🤣

That’s when you know the tool bags aren’t going back in the truck just yet.

We love when someone gives us a small project, sees how we handle it, and trusts us with the next one. And this turned out to be an absolutely awesome family to work with, which made coming back even better.

Moral of today’s roulette:
Never underestimate a loose shower stone. It might secretly be a job interview. 😂

This was supposed to be a quick breakfast stop.

Then someone said, “We should probably eat something healthy.”

So naturally, we ordered a waffle and covered it with strawberries, bananas, and pecans. Because once you put fruit on it, it’s basically a salad. Please respect our process. 😂

And honestly, the craftsmanship here deserves recognition. Solid foundation. Even spacing. Excellent coverage. No change orders.

The only structural concern was the plastic fork, which was clearly not rated for this load.

Somewhere, a customer was probably wondering where we were.

We were in a meeting.

With the waffle.

The meeting ran over. 🧇😂

Whatever it is, I'm posting it.
