With another upcoming storm for this weekend here’s some tips to prepare. ❄️☃️🏂🎿🪏🌨️

🏠 Inside Your Home

Heat & pipes
• Set your thermostat no lower than 55°F
• Let faucets drip slightly (especially exterior walls)
• Open cabinet doors under sinks so warm air circulates
• Know where your main water shutoff is (just in case)

Power outage prep
• Charge phones, power banks, laptops
• Have flashlights (not just candles)
• Extra batteries on hand
• If you use a generator, never indoors or in a garage

Food & water
• 3 days of food per person (no-cook items are clutch)
• Bottled water (1 gallon per person per day)
• Manual can opener

Warmth
• Extra blankets, hats, gloves, thick socks
• Layer bedding (heat can drop fast overnight)

🧊 Outside the House

Prevent ice damage
• Clear gutters if you can (helps prevent ice dams)
• Bring in or secure outdoor furniture
• Cover outdoor faucets or shut them off

Ice safety
• Ice melt or sand near entrances
• Shovel ready before snow piles up

🚗 Vehicle Prep
• Fill gas tank (prevents fuel line freezing + helps if stranded)
• Windshield washer fluid rated for freezing temps
• Ice scraper + snow brush
• Emergency kit: blanket, flashlight, snacks, phone charger

🐾 Pets
• Bring pets inside
• Extra pet food & meds
• Keep paws clean from ice melt chemicals

📡 Stay Informed
• Enable weather alerts on your phone
• Know local warming centers (especially if power goes out)
• Check on elderly neighbors or anyone living alone 💙

❗ Big Don’ts
• ❌ Don’t use grills or gas stoves for heat
• ❌ Don’t run cars in closed garages
• ❌ Don’t overload extension cords with heaters
