On March 10 we joined research partner FWC to collect data of the American oystercatcher (the bird, not the occupation) habitat on the barge canal spoil islands near Crystal River, Florida. These islands were created from what was dug up to create the canal, and they have since become a crucial study in how this habitat can be created--and destroyed.
