All welded out, cant get a grinder/wheel into the top area to clean it up so it doesnt look good but feels right (did use a file to break off some slag). Mechanic is putting it back together and we will take it apart again this summer to clean, double check and coat the frame.

Photo of the midpoint of the process. On top is a level made of 1/2" square rod. This shows an even gap so the frame is in line top bottom. I tacked this into place and then we partially reassembled the unit to move it to the lift. It is now welded out except for the top. More to come.

So this morning was scribing the general shape of the original cuts to new piece and cutting it. Then putting plates inside the orginal frame and welding the back inside of each plate and also doing plug welds to hold them in place. Then fitting the new piece onto the old frame. As it sits its square with the frame but need to fix the scribes on top and bottom and get it fit tighter. There will be a small gap to allow burn into backer plates ans plug welds into them too. Between the body and the top of frame is about 1.5". Its coming along.

So the frame, as you can see in the upper left corner, is bent. Measured out the needed section on the straight frame and marked them both. Bottow two are close ups of the bend (inside on the left, outside on the right). Will be doing some extra cutting on the outside and reinforcing to get the new piece in place. Whatever needs done.
