We were proud to be part of SENEDIA’s Defense Innovation Days, a powerhouse three-day event bringing together leaders from across the defense industry to connect, collaborate and explore the innovations shaping the future of our national defense.

During the event, Charlie Montalbano, VP of Quonset Point Operations, had the honor of introducing CAPT Matthew Lewis, Acting Deputy Director for In-Service Submarines and Industrial Base. We were also pleased to welcome Senator Reed to our booth to learn more about our work and the people behind our mission.

Electric Boat is hiring an Electronics Mechanic for 2nd shift in our Facilities Department. We’re looking for someone with strong industrial electrical experience to support automation, troubleshoot PLC/servo systems, read blueprints, and work alongside contractors and equipment vendors.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent (or related technical experience)
• 5+ years in industrial/commercial electrical work
• 5+ years with motor controls, PLC, and CNC troubleshooting

Preferred: Technical or trade certificate

This week, General Dynamics Electric Boat employees gathered to unveil a new bronze plaque recognizing the plank owners of Atlas, our state-of-the-art floating dry dock.

Built at Bollinger Shipyards in Louisiana and delivered to Groton earlier this year, Atlas will play a vital role in supporting the Columbia-class program. The 150-pound plaque — designed by EB’s Graphic Design team and cast by New England Sign Carvers — will be mounted on Atlas’s Central Control House, overlooking the Thames River.

Atlas Sponsor Elizabeth Xenelis praised the teams behind the project, calling Atlas “a true harbor of strength."

As Atlas moves toward full operational support, this ceremony celebrated the craftsmanship, teamwork and commitment shaping EB’s future.

One year ago today — on USS Wisconsin (SSBN 827) Day — General Dynamics Electric Boat celebrated the keel laying of Wisconsin, the second ship in the Columbia class of ballistic-missile submarines, at our Quonset Point facility.

During the ceremony, held on the ship’s hull number date, EB welder and 49-year employee Robert Ray Jr. joined Ship Sponsor Dr. Kelly Geurts as she welded her initials onto a steel plate that will be permanently placed aboard Wisconsin.

Today, on the anniversary of that milestone, we proudly recognize the dedication of the teams building Wisconsin and the Columbia class fleet.

Ready CT and Electric Boat teamed up to welcome recent grads to a social at Washington Park in Groton, CT—complete with food, fun, and the chance to connect with future coworkers!

It was a beautiful afternoon, and it’s wonderful to see familiar faces—from those we first met during Application Days and Signing Day, to students preparing for training, currently in training, and already launching their careers at EB.

Members of our Workforce Development team had a great time chatting with these recent grads—and hearing about where they are on their journey with Electric Boat.

Last week, we celebrated 117 high school SHIP interns across our Groton and Quonset Point sites as they wrapped up an incredible summer at Electric Boat! 🎉

Throughout the summer, these students gained hands-on experience, learned alongside our skilled workforce, participated in community service and got an inside look at what it takes to build the submarines our nation depends on. They joined us from high schools across Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia and even Michigan — bringing their talent, curiosity and enthusiasm to our shipyards.

And for many, their time at EB is just getting started. Nearly 60 students will return this fall as co-ops, continuing to build their skills while still in high school and taking another step toward future career opportunities.

Programs like SHIP are only possible because of the people and partnerships behind them. Thank you to our Groton unions, the mentors who welcomed these students into their teams and shared their knowledge and experience, and our partner school systems for their continued support and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students.

Congratulations to all 117 of our summer interns. We’re proud of what you accomplished this summer — and even more excited to see where you go from here!
