Last night, we welcomed the next generation of shipbuilders at our 5th Annual Groton Signing Day at the historic Garde Arts Center in New London.

More than 185 students walked across the stage to receive their hard hat and certificate, representing over 300 graduating seniors who have accepted offers to begin their careers at Electric Boat Groton.

The evening celebrated their hard work, determination, and commitment to pursuing meaningful careers after high school. Surrounded by family, friends, educators, and mentors, these students were recognized for reaching an incredible milestone and taking the first step toward building the nation’s most advanced submarines.

Congratulations to The Sound School, recipient of this year’s Signing Day Award for having the highest percentage of their graduating class accept offers with Electric Boat.

As each student crossed the stage, it was a reminder that the future of shipbuilding is already here—and it’s being built by the next generation.

Excited to share highlights from the ribbon cutting for North Kingstown High School’s new Machinist Manufacturing Defense CTE program 🔧⚙️

The program gives students hands-on experience in everything from reading blueprints and operating machinery to inspecting finished parts, preparing them for real careers in the trades.

In partnership with Electric Boat, students are already gaining valuable industry experience and stepping directly into the workforce. During the event, senior Jake Gaccione shared how the program helped lead him to an opportunity at Electric Boat, where he currently works every other day and already has a full-time position lined up after graduation.

The students also created a special token for attendees to remember the day by using a CNC machine, a great example of the hands-on skills they’re developing through the program.

As the industry continues facing workforce shortages, programs like this are helping build the next generation of skilled trades professionals while creating meaningful career opportunities for students.

Thank you to U.S. Senator Jack Reed for speaking, Pat Saggal, Director of Engineering, the North Kingstown School Committee & staff, the Champlin Foundation, the RI Department of Education, and the Submarine Industrial Base for their support in making this program possible.

Last week, we celebrated our 5th Annual Quonset Point Signing Day, one of our favorite traditions at Electric Boat!

More than 150 students walked across the stage, received their certificates and hard hats, and were officially welcomed to the Electric Boat team as part of the 400 high school seniors who accepted offers at EB Quonset Point this year.

This year's Quonset Point Signing Day represented 85 high schools across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Louisiana, and Virginia - bringing together students from traditional public schools, technical schools, agricultural programs, and homeschool communities. Seeing so many different paths lead to careers in shipbuilding was an incredible reminder that there is no single road to success.

It was an incredible night filled with pride, excitement, and a reminder of just how bright the future of shipbuilding is. Students heard messages of support from leaders across our state and nation, the U.S. Navy, and members of the community, all recognizing the importance of the work these students are about to begin.

A special congratulations to E-Cubed Academy, who took home this year’s Signing Day Award for having the highest percentage of their graduating class accept positions at Electric Boat.

Most importantly, this night was about celebrating the students and everyone who helped them get here, the educators who guided them and the parents and families who supported them.

Thank you to the EB Talent Acquisition team who helped place these students into careers at EB, as well as our Workforce Development team, EB Liaisons, and EB Ambassadors who worked tirelessly behind the scenes building relationships with schools and communities, connecting students with meaningful careers, and working to make this event such a success.

To the next generation of shipbuilders: welcome to Electric Boat. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish.

It’s incredible to see students turning welding skills into real opportunities after graduation. Stories like these are a reminder that there are so many paths to success, and for students who love working with their hands, the opportunities in manufacturing and shipbuilding are endless.

We’re especially proud to have both of these talented students as part of the Electric Boat team.
