I was taking out an old vanity to replace with a new one and found a pretty nasty leak hiding below. As soon as I saw, I fixed the leak quickly with sharkbites (a product I love) and immediately notified the home owner of the further damage. In this instance the flooring and sheetrock were unfortunately destroyed and needed replacement. But I have seen where some crews will ignore this and avoid doing the extra work, plop a new vanity in and lie. That's not me. I fix things to last and to be safe for our clients and their families. If you get leaks fixed quickly you can prevent this damage and it won't be this bad which is why we want to share what happens, in this circumstance this was a very old home that had a previous leak here and it came back unnoticed. It is common for people to miss a small drip in an area they don't see often which is why we want to help educate and nudge our friends to do routine checks. Please always listen for drips or look for standing water as leaks can be very costly along with bringing Mold into your home which obviously causes negative health effects for you and your pets. Always routinely check your shut off valves to ensure they are not corroded as that is a big leak starter we have seen in homes on well water and a very easy- not super expensive fix!
