A failed component raises one question: what actually happened?

Our materials engineering team works backward from the failure mode to the root cause. Was the material suited to the application? Were the operating conditions what the design assumed? Was the product used as intended?

Metallurgy, laboratory testing, and scanning electron microscopy give us the evidence. Fifty years of casework gives us the judgment to interpret it correctly.

Our consumer products practice traces back to threaded connections in the energy sector. In the mid-1980s, we applied that expertise to pioneer computer-based analysis tools for plastic bottles and closures.

That cross-industry transfer of engineering rigor, built for high-consequence energy applications and applied to consumer packaging, remains how we approach the work. Different industry. Same standard.

Legacy is not a milestone. It is a standard.

Behind every Stress Engineering Services report is the same process: test, validate, defend. That process has not changed in fifty years — and neither has the accountability that comes with it. Every engineer here carries what five decades built into the next project.

We do not rest on that record. We build on it. Every engagement adds to a body of validated work. Every conclusion is held to the same measure that made the last one defensible.

That is why our work holds up — in regulatory review, in litigation, and under scrutiny — both today and after the project closes.

Back-to-school means more than new projects at Stress Engineering Services.

Each year, our team gathers supplies and donations for Cy-Fair Helping Hands, to support their mission. This year, Cy-Fair Helping Hands filled more than 2,300 backpacks for families in need across our community!

We are proud to support the work they do, year after year, for the community we live and work in.

Microbiologically influenced corrosion is among the more difficult failure mechanisms to diagnose in oil and gas pipelines.

In the August 2026 issue of AMPP Materials Performance Magazine, Suresh Divi, Ph.D., P.E., PMP, presents three case studies that establish MIC's role in carbon steel pipeline failures across different operating conditions. The work demonstrates that when the failure mechanism is correctly identified and documented, the path forward is clear and defensible.

Regulatory reviewers don't just look at your results. They look at how you got them.

Our medical device verification testing spans drug delivery systems, surgical tools, implantable devices, and diagnostic equipment. From method development and protocol generation through test ex*****on and final reporting, every step is documented, validated, and traceable to withstand regulatory scrutiny.

Our materials expertise and design history give us a distinct advantage across both complex verification and standardized testing. We work closely with clients to define protocols that accurately capture product behavior and provide the data regulatory submissions require.

Defensibility isn't added at the end. It's built in from the first test.

A fire generates two distinct technical needs: understanding what caused it and determining what can be returned to service. Stress Engineering Services provides both.

Our origin and cause investigations are conducted by Certified Fire Investigators. When the investigation transitions to a Fitness-For-Service Assessment, our fire damage assessment team is part of the same firm.

Fire damage assessment is grounded in the API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Fitness-for-Service Standard and supported by in-house expertise in metallurgy, stress analysis, piping analysis, hardness testing, inspection, and heat zone mapping.

On July 31, we pause to celebrate what makes Stress Engineering Services different: we are 100% employee-owned!

We spent the day exploring what employee ownership means and how our team already operates with an owner's mindset in everything we do. Scott McClelland, former President of H-E-B, joined us to speak on what empowered ownership looks like in practice. We also announced our current stock price, a milestone that reflects the value our employee-owners build every day!

The day closed with games and celebration, a reminder that our 100% ESOP structure is not just a business model. It is the foundation of how we work.

When a problem exceeded what most firms could handle, Stress Engineering Services was called in to resolve it.

Built by engineers who spent their careers solving the toughest problems. Knowledge passed from senior engineers to the next generation. Methodology tested and retested over five decades. A culture that holds itself to the same standard on every project.

Independent. Rigorous. Defensible.

Consumer products reach millions of people each year. The engineering behind them has to be right before they do.

Since the mid-1980s, we have applied deep engineering expertise to consumer products and packaging, beginning with computer-based analysis to evaluate plastic bottles and closures, work adapted from our experience with threaded connections in the energy sector.

What was highly complex at the time is now standard practice across the industry. We have continued to advance that capability to more complex plastics, packaging, electronics, and consumer devices.
