At Ascend, our OARS values guide the decisions we make each day and the way we work: 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁. One incredible moment captured two of these values this week, when we celebrated Lawrence Robinson's retirement after 31 years of service at our Pensacola, Florida site.

Lawrence, a Shift Lead Operator in our No-Shock anti-static fiber unit, is well known and very respected for his calm demeanor and incredible work ethic.

“I gave 100 percent every time I came to work, and in turn, Ascend has taken care of my family in many ways over the years,” Lawrence told the group at his retirement party. His managers shared how he so clearly displayed 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 through his initiative, willingness to train others, and continual contributions to the success of his area.

Lawrence then went on to describe how his daughter had faced a critical medical situation and needed a heart transplant. The Ascend Cares Foundation was there for the family, supporting them with hardship grant funds and love.

Lawrence’s daughter was on hand at the celebration with other members of his family, and she took the opportunity to thank the room for recognizing her father’s amazing spirit and work ethic, and for the support during their trial.

“Not every company takes care of their people the way Ascend does,” she said. “I am so grateful you all have recognized what a good man my father is, and for how you have cared for our family.” This wonderful moment perfectly captured how we 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 each other, especially through the most difficult times.

Lawrence is retiring from No-Shock but heading right into his next role! He will be the full-time pastor of his local church in Cantonment, Florida. We’ll miss his amazing spirit and skilled work but wish him the very best in the future – and we will continue to be grateful for his example of OARS in action.

Ascend Cares volunteers at our Chocolate Bayou, Texas site recently hosted the amazing kids and staff from Kidz Harbor for their 5th Annual Field Day, a fun-filled event with tons of friendly competition and activities.

Thanks to our incredible volunteers, the kids enjoyed games like the sponge throw, water balloon toss, three-legged races, sack races, and so much more. Our fire crew made the day even more exciting by giving the kids fire truck rides, and thanks to our fearless leaders, the kids had a blast dunking them in the dunking booth!

Many thanks to all on our team who made this day possible. We love being able to support Kidz Harbor, an organization committed to giving a safe space to children in great need.

Ascend Cares volunteers at our Decatur, Alabama site have been working hard to build four homes for Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, and today the first two made the "road trip" to their new destination! We're proud of all the great work our team did to help build these with care and wish all the best to the families who will soon call them home.

A tip of the hard hat to this talented crew at our Pensacola, FL site! We recently recognized eight mechanics who achieved a major professional milestone by successfully passing the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) certification test.

This accomplishment reflects their dedication, skill, and commitment to advancing their craft. It's an important accomplishment for our employees and strengthens the expertise across our site. We're proud of the dedication these individuals demonstrated in preparing for and completing their NCCER testing. Well done! 👏
