Here's a shift worth noticing: AI in 2026 isn't really about picking the "best model" anymore — it's about the system you build around it. Memory, tool use, payments, deployment... that's where the real engineering is happening now.

I put together my August AI Month in Review — 10 developments that defined the month, from agents that finally remember context to weather models running at a whole new resolution.

What's the one AI shift you've noticed most this year? Drop it in the comments 👇

Building a Home Lab: Where Networking Meets Cybersecurity 🔐🌐

One of the best ways to move beyond theory is to build, break, troubleshoot, and rebuild.

I’m using a home lab environment to develop practical skills across:

🖥️ Systems Administration
🌐 Networking
🔐 Cybersecurity
🐳 Containers & Services
🔧 Hardware & Low-Level Interfaces

The lab gives me a controlled environment to explore how hardware, operating systems, networks, and security controls work together.

I’m also diving deeper into interfaces such as UART and JTAG—useful for understanding debugging, firmware, and low-level device communication.

The goal isn't just to collect certifications.

It's to build the ability to understand what is happening under the hood.

Learn → Build → Break → Troubleshoot → Secure. 🔐

Better skills. Stronger security.

One networking concept every cybersecurity learner should understand: ARP. 🌐

A device may know the destination's IPv4 address, but on an Ethernet network it also needs the destination's MAC address.

ARP bridges that gap.

The device broadcasts an ARP Request, the host with the matching IPv4 address responds with its MAC address, and the source stores that mapping in its ARP table.

Simple enough—until you look at the security side. 👀

ARP doesn't provide strong authentication, which makes ARP spoofing/poisoning possible.

That's one of the reasons I believe cybersecurity learning should start with the fundamentals.

Before learning how to defend a network, understand how the network actually communicates. 🔐

Behind every digital experience is an infrastructure most people never see. ⚙️🌐

Servers, switches, fiber, power, cooling, and thousands of connections working together to keep systems available and data moving.

As an IT & cybersecurity professional, I’m fascinated by what happens beneath the interface — because security starts with understanding the infrastructure.

Build it. Understand it. Secure it. 🔐

Built, broke, fixed, and learned. 🔧💻

I’m excited to share my home lab—a practical environment for building hands-on skills in systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, and self-hosting.

Running on an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Mini with ZimaOS, the lab currently hosts Pi-hole, Immich, Jellyfin, Minecraft, Uptime Kuma, and VPN access.

One of the early challenges was double NAT, which I resolved using IP Passthrough on the ISP gateway.

Next milestone: moving everything into a server rack for better organization, airflow, cable management, and room to scale.

A home lab isn't just about hardware—it's a place to experiment, troubleshoot, and turn theory into practical experience.

What would you add to this lab next?

Where the air is thin, the mountains are massive, and every step tells a story. 🏔️

A breathtaking view of the Everest Base Camp landscape, surrounded by glaciers, rugged rocks, and some of the world's most dramatic mountain peaks.

5,364 metres above sea level — a place that puts perspective into everything.

Generalists get hired. But the ones who make the biggest difference on a team usually have real depth in one area — plus the curiosity to keep learning everything else. We call this the "T-shaped engineer".
