Sorry it's been quiet these last few days! Exhaustion doesn't cover it!
Muscle and Brains has been helping the boys all week on other projects; media chick has been boxing and boxing and oh wait...more boxing of last minute items...I pick things up and put them down. Repeat.
Final Inspection is at our fingertips!
Its crazy when we think last year at this time well...there wasn't even a real hole in the ground yet. Just a vision and a prayer kinda thing.
Now, well...
Everything including the kitchen sinks...just waiting for moving day.
So there's filing to do, estimates to write up, jobs to go look at (I promise we are coming!) And well...maybe even a much deserved few days off here soon...to do nothing but sit and take it all in!
This is Media Chick saying Thank You to everyone who has followed us along this journey, cheered us on from near and far and the boys - the boys well, I tell each one "This is your house too!"
For those of you familiar with country music, well...
"We built this right so nothings ever gonna move it" ....that song is currently on repeat in my head...
Here's to the future of Fox Mettle, Dreaming so big it scares us and just enjoying the ride!

Muscle&Brains is now counting the hours t-24hrs or however its spelled until the first flush.
Did I happen to mention the first flush will be on HIS BIRTHDAY?!?!
Yes - tomorrow is his magical day of birth celebration and the day we can flush toilets! Woohoo!
Not to shabby for a Birthday present!
So, Huge Shout Out to Wert's Heating and Plumbing for doing all the stuff! 🤷‍♀️(Insert well/hvac/plumbing technical terms here)
Muscle&Brains has been helping the boys from Galaxie Contracting LLC do a deck along with the ginga ninja the last two days...
Over the weekend we called on another of the boys to help with the last of the vents - this time i think it was for the dryers....🤷‍♀️I don't know I just work here! 🤣
I love how these boys come together when help is needed!
So, media chick has been in yhe background with her magical lemon vinegar spray and Murphys oil soap scrubbing every piece of wood furniture that has come out of storage(Pretty much all made by the Inspector) and making it look like a home....
She even managed to plug in the microwave today and have soup for lunch 🤣🤷‍♀️ I'm waiting to use the stove to make an actual meal or maybe some birthday muffins tomorrow afternoon...🤔

Time to unwind, breathe some fresh air and pray no flies end up in the tacky epoxy overnight 🤣🤷‍♀️

Thursday.
Epoxy/license plate/live edge/cleaning day/punchlist day.
As Muscle&Brains said yesterday What a Long Strange Trip its been...and the trip is slowly coming to the final destination. It's crazy to believe we're there.
This adventure started a few years ago...and then Fox Mettle became a real thing. Now, well, there's jobs that have been completed big/small and everything in between...including this ranch duplex. The future home of us, the official FM office and memories that will last a lifetime.
Media chick is quickly filling her shutterfly cart with Memory magnets for the fridge and freezer 🤣
But, there is coffee to drink this morning and pictures to share for now of yesterday's venture!
- License plates make up the backsplash for the Grandma's Patchwork Quilt kitchen, including some family nostalgia along the way with personalized "retired" plates, plates of days gone by saved by family and just some neat ones we found.
Live edge shelves come from a tree cut down and milled by family...
And Media Chicks vision that doesn't include fitting in anyone's box!

It's Tuesday.
And man...
It's a good day.
Just saying.
Septic and Sandmound are coming along great even if there was rock hit...surprise surprise!
The muscle & brains and ginger wizard can now officially add cabinet maker to their resumes! And soon epoxy experts!
The blonde wonder finished up his stuff and headed out to other jobs...
Meanwhile Media Chick is just trying not to move in now. 🤷‍♀️
She had a vision - a "Grandma's Patchwork Quilt" vision for the kitchen and well...seeing it come to life is something words can't do justice too.
Meanwhile in the words of the Inspector "Is there going to be a cabinet around that? And well what about the dancefloor? And what are you doing with this?" ....
After a jolly romp in the woods this morning he was full of p**s and vinegar and questions 🤣🤷‍♀️ yet...soon enough he shall see the vision in reality.
The other house shall see a vacuum and swiffer here shortly and then the parade of boxes may begin!
The race is on for the toilet/sink/ water/heating guy to have the honor of the first flush!

Monday Morning coming in hard and fast....and looking back over the last several months I'm immediately brought to Robert Frost.
Hence the picture.
Muscle and Brains took the road less traveled for himself...and in the words of the Inspector "Building a home of this size for your first project is quite the...adventure"
Yet, here we are.
Septic guys pulled in Friday and parked his equipment.
Last minute checklists, putting the "Grandma's patchwork quilt" of a kitchen together, awaiting the call the woodstove is in and well...knowing the Good Lord be willing and the cricks don't rise next month at this time it will be lived in. Finished. Complete. All inspections done, boxes moved and unpacked....and onto the next.
The phone is ringing, estimates are being written up, a few to go look at yet(we didnt forget you I promise!) And well...
If only the walls of these houses could talk. The love, laughter, tears, sweat and just true grit that went into this will carry on for generations.
Media chick is definitely lacking pictures to add to this - between playing accountant and a funky spring cold and just everything she hasn't taken a lot of pictures. Hopefully tomorrow!

April showers bring May flowers....
What they dont bring is semi-dry ground for the incoming septic/sandmound....or workable outside weather for the boys...
But...
You'll have this!
What you will have is Media Chick admitting middle age is getting excited over Speed Queens and dishwashers. And appliances that DO NOT tell me I'm low on milk. I have eyes and can see that for myself Thank You! - for those that enjoy their smart appliances; I mean no offense! They're just not for me! 🤷‍♀️
But....I digress.
The boys are still plugging away. A little bit inside, a little bit outside, a lot of polyurethane and wood and metal bending and well....everything including the kitchen sink which arrived yesterday!
And of course the doodling slowly comes to a crawl and is almost over...and a much needed quick siesta on Sunday afternoon in the freshly delivered Adirondack chairs made by the Inspector himself!

Tuesday is winding down and so are the boys.
Trim and finishing touches to finalize rooms, wood putty, toilets and vanities, media chicks next project and woodcocks. Yes. Woodcocks. Woodcocks that gave Muscle and Brains and Media chick a much needed laugh & roosters that Media chick talked too for too long and threatened to bring one home 🤣
So as the sun is still smiling down on us, theres no chance of frost and tomorrow is a new day full of electric things, flooring prep and who knows what the day will hold!
