The Shop at Show Ready is an 81,000 square foot private label fabrication facility in Los Angeles, dedicated to serving the trade show, museum, retail, and event industries. Not only are we scenic builders, carpenters, metal workers and master painters – we are engineers and experienced technicians. We're growing the team, and this one's a great fit!

Jason MacDonald just joined Show Ready as a Project Manager/Estimator, bringing 25 years of experience in trade show, exhibit, and retail fabrication with him. He's worked with companies like Pinnacle and Displayit, contributed to award-winning projects including a 2026 Hermes Creative Award and a 2025 FAB Award, and spent the last five years expanding into retail and hospitality.

When he's not running projects, you'll find him in the water. Surfer. Outdoorsman. Fits right in with the SoCal shop culture.

Most people don't think about wind loads until something goes wrong. Outdoor builds are a completely different discipline from indoor exhibit work.

The structure that performs perfectly in a convention hall can fail in a sustained 35 mph gust. The graphics that look sharp on day one of a trade show can fade or shred by hour twelve in the open air. The anchoring system that works on concrete doesn't work on turf.

It's not that outdoor fabrication is harder; it's that the variables are different and they compound fast. Material choice affects structural engineering, which affects anchoring, which affects permitting, which affects your timeline. Getting one wrong creates a cascade.

The things that actually determine whether an outdoor build succeeds aren't the creative decisions — those are the fun part. They're the decisions that happen before anyone picks up a saw. Site surveys. Wind load calculations. Venue restrictions. Flame-retardant certifications. Load-in logistics. Pre-assembly in the shop before anything ships.

The outdoor season have a way of exposing every shortcut, but we have a secret: the builds that hold up are the ones were no shortcuts were taken.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we're thinking about the Lakeshore Learning exhibit we built for NAEYC.

Designed from the ground up to welcome educators — modular displays, integrated lighting, open layouts that invited people in rather than just showing product at them. Flexible enough to grow with Lakeshore's show strategy, and built to last well beyond a single event.

Teachers deserve spaces that take them as seriously as they take their classrooms. This one did.

We love MYSLF. And apparently so does everyone at Ulta Beauty World 2026.

We fabricated the YSL Beauty booth for this year's show — including that oversized backlit YSL monogram panel and the rear-lit MYSLF signage wall you see going together in the shop. The finished booth stopped traffic on the floor, and honestly, we get it.

High-gloss black panels, custom-fabricated dimensional lettering, and brand presence that didn't need to ask for attention. It just had it.

We're growing the team — two open positions at our Huntington Beach shop.

If you're a Carpenter with hands-on experience in exhibit, trade show, or retail display fabrication — someone who knows their way around saws, routers, laminates, and a set of technical drawings — we want to hear from you.

If you're a Project Manager/Estimator with 5+ years in custom fabrication, we're looking for someone who can own both sides of the job — quantity takeoffs across materials, labor, A/V, and specialty elements on the estimating side, and full project oversight from kickoff through installation on the PM side. Client-facing, multi-project, high ownership.

Both roles are on-site in Huntington Beach. Both come with a team that takes the craft seriously.
