General information
Collecting water on a flat roof puts a considerable amount of weight on the roof. Our unique design includes a solar panel that is charged by UV rays but can continue to pump for several days even if the sun has not come out. However, the pump has a built-in backup siphon system that will continue to drain the ponded water indefinately in the unlikely event that the sky is overcast for several days, not allowing the solar panel to recharge the battery. When the sun comes back out, the battery recharges itself. The charging is precisely managed through a high tech charge-controller which insures no over-charging of the deep cycle gel battery. Depending on the surface of the roof, the pump is automatically actuated when the water reaches a depth of 3/4” to 1-1/2” the new high-buoyancy float allows pump to activate in just 1/2” to 1” water depth. The pump can remove up to 500 gallons of water per hour, and will shut itself off when the water reaches a depth of 1/4” to 1”, again depending on several factors including the roof surface.
