I’m excited to share a new project I’ve been building: Weather Storm Event Analysis 🌪
Using NOAA’s massive storm events dataset, I’m exploring and modeling the impacts of hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes. The project applies data science (EDA, visualization, trend analysis) and machine learning (regression, classification, risk modeling) to predict property damage and casualty risk.
A key focus is on infrastructure resiliency — translating storm impact data into insights that can support water systems, power grids, and community planning. By separating hazards, normalizing historical costs into 2025 USD, and running tailored models per storm type, the analysis aims to provide clearer, actionable risk metrics.

This is still a work in progress, but it’s shaping up to be a showcase project that connects machine learning with real-world civil infrastructure challenges.
Uses NOAA storm event database to analyze and predict property damage or casualties from storm features (wind speed, duration, location). Bonus will be to tie into infrastructure resilience (water...
