Because I'm feeling big blade energy, I followed up my recent elk antler bowie, with another biggie. This one is also a rasp file blade, but finished off with Cocobolo handles. The patterning in the wood of this knife is so awesome!

So I didn't start out thinking I'd end up with a giant bowie knife but this is where we ended up people. This thing is comically large and would be sure to impress Crocodile Dundee himself. Pictured with two average size carry knives, just to show I also make normal things.

All-Around Swag. This is the second time recently when I've had a knife get set up next to a cool set of spurs. I think forging some rasp file spurs needs to be on the project list this fall.

Today's spotlight: hunting knife forged from reclaimed file steel. Brass guard, leather guard and Manzanita handle finish off this hidden tang knife. This one is still available and is hanging out with all of its knife friends at our booth next to the Slack here in Joseph, Oregon. Come say hi!

Custom knives for all event winners for Chief Joseph Days Rodeo. Knives are ProCut steel. Handle scales for event knives are Black Walnut sourced locally, thanks to Jim Zacharias at JayZee Lumber. All-Around knife is Black Walnut and Elk Antler with a resin flag band. I did a fractal burn on the handles to create a lightning effect. Super great project to get done!

If you're a regular follower of the page as opposed to a casual lurker, you likely know that I donate a significant number of knives for local events. I like to do it for so many reasons, but one such reason is that it motivates me to do knives that are more on the creative side. The Wallowa County Fly-In is no exception, I've done several knives for this event and always try to do something that has an aviation feel. This year, I tried something I had not done before, which is to use aluminum as the handle scales and attached with "rivets" as opposed to pins. Knife blade is 5160 steel, with a tanto (wing-shaped) blade, solid aluminum handles and bronze barrel screws. You can buy this knife this Friday night at the Fly-In fundraiser dinner, all the while eating incredible food by Z's BBQ. Hope to see you there!
