SME Chapter 220

SME Chapter 220 SME Chapter 220 is chapter 220 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Our territory includes Northeast Ohio and Western PA.

We welcome anyone involved in manufacturing to join our chapter and participate in our events. Chapter 220 is made up of a 4 person board and over 100 members.

Great tour of Wiseco in Mentor last night. Thank you to everyone at Wiseco for welcoming Chapter 220 and Chapter 3. It was very interesting to see the full process all of the high performance Pistons go through. From the forging process through the finishing, they do it all.

Thank you to Greg Van Horn and the team at U.S. Endoscopy for their excellent presentation and tour. Their demonstration of Lean Manufacturing through 5S and Single Piece Flow, implemented and sustained through successful Kaizen Events, was enlightening and informative. SME Chapter 220 sponsored a table at the AWT Robot competition. AWT and all of the schools that participated did a great job with the competition. Each schools team built a remote control robot and the robots battled each other in the glass cage shown in the pictures. The competition is a method of teaching our youth about manufacturing and it is a very successful program. The members of SME Chapter 220 spoke with many of the attendees about local area manufacturing and had a presentation on Lean Manufacturing.
