Framing goes up with in-house crews, not subcontractors borrowed off another job. That keeps the work on Docks and Rocks' schedule instead of waiting on someone else to finish before the next stage can start. Quality stays under one roof too, since the same people accountable for the build are the ones swinging the hammers. The work gets checked to the customer's standard and the builder's. This dock is into the framing stage now, the structure taking shape over the water.

From inside, the boat dock already reads like a room. Framed openings on every side, composite decking underfoot, pine ceiling going up overhead. A covered dock right in the middle of coming together.

The ceiling going into this covered dock is pine, tongue and groove, fit tight board by board. Paint goes on next, and the ceiling should be finished in a couple of days. Most covered docks never get a ceiling done like this, and that is what sets this one apart.

From the air it all makes sense. A grid of pilings, framing across the top, and the full footprint of the dock sitting right there on the water. Both barges on site working the build.

Running a crane this size from a remote that fits in one hand. Wireless controls put the operator right where the work is happening, eyes locked on the pole and hands on the controls. That kind of control is exactly how a pole ends up set where it needs to be.

This barge is the backbone of every dock Docks and Rocks builds. It is owned outright, not rented and not borrowed, which means it goes on a job the moment the work calls for it instead of whenever an outside contractor has an opening. No waiting in someone else's line. No mobilization fees getting passed down to the customer. Owning the equipment keeps the schedule and the cost in the right hands, and that lands in the customer's favor every time.

Everything on this barge exists to do one thing: put poles into a lakebed. The Mantis 1300 hammer drives them into the mud. The Fassi F115 knuckle boom crane runs wireless off its own gas motor, so the guys work it from a handheld controller. It even moves itself, lifting its spud poles, sliding into position, then setting them back down for a steady platform. A 2020 rig built for exactly this.
