As we begin a new year, it is the perfect time to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments. Dean Engineering and Design was involved in more than 150 new projects across the Southeastern US in 2023. Take a look at some photos of completed projects from last year.

The quality and moisture-content of soil is always a major consideration when designing and constructing a retaining wall. This commercial retaining wall located in Nashville needed to be constructed over a marshy area connecting the entrance of an apartment complex to the main road. The presence of wetland soils and heavy traffic were both obstacles in this project. Dean Engineering and Design created a design to overcome these challenges.

This apartment complex required an elevated bridge connection to the main road. Wetland soils and heavy traffic were two major obstacles in this project.

We've updated our website! Check out the new Projects section, where we discuss some problems and solutions of commercial and residential retaining walls. For example, multi-tier retaining walls are sometimes the best solution for a property with a large slope. However, they are more complicated to design and construct. In the case of this multi-tiered retaining wall in Gatlinburg, Dean Engineering and Design was able to provide a solution that gave the property owners a more useable and asethetically-pleasing space.

Tiered retaining walls are a more complex system than single walls. Dean Engineering and Design created a solution that allowed for more functional use of this residential property.
