Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Unfortunately and sadly the Greatest Generation everyday leaves us and as a nation I think it leaves us a little weaker.
I wrote a fiction book called Bridging the Chasm, in it two brothers and their friends show courage, fortitude, discipline as they struggle with a dangerous flood, a WW1 battle and the building of Hoover Dam. Republished in 2021, it also contains at the end of the book a list of the # of men, companies and the 48 states who contributed materials to build one of the greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century... the Hoover Dam.
At Amazon and Barnes/Noble for $8.99 and Kindle for $3.99, might be a little biased but if you like history, adventure and a little romance ( plus the U. S. Marines) it's a dam good present you could give yourself or to a friend.

Hope everyone is well, thank you all for responding/looking at my post. If anyone wants to know more about the Dam or how it was built, I'd be happy to answer your questions as being a former guide we all thought we were Dam experts. Been retired for 7 years but I'll do my best to answer your questions, take care and... may the Dam force be with you all!

On September 30 of this year ( 2021 ) , Hoover Dam will celebrate it's 90th birthday. The Southwest ( and Las Vegas ) owes much to this engineering wonder built during the Great Depression ( 1931-1935 ).

When I was a guide there ( 1997-2014 ) I gathered information from the original engineering books and separated it into # of men, materials, companies and states who contributed to build a 20th century engineering wonder, the Hoover Dam.

This list is at the end of a book I wrote called Bridging the Chasm, it has been republished this year since first published in 2011. A novella really ( only 106 pages ) on Amazon 4.23/Kindle 3.99 and Barnes/Noble 8.99, if you like history/adventure/a little romance it's a fast read covering 25 plus years in the early 20th century. Two locales for under $5, I'd call that a dam bargain ( pun and bias intended ).

Las Vegas wouldn't be Las Vegas without the completion of this American engineering Icon during the Great Depression in the 20th century. As of 09/30/2020 she will be celebrating her 85th anniversary of American engineering excellence, contributing to the country's continuing growth over 3 generations. Wrote a short book about the dam, republished this year with new details about the contributions of men, materials and companies that built her during the 1930s. Used to be a guide for many years so should know what I'm talking about. Bridging the Chasm on Amazon and Kindle for a few dam dollars ( pardon the pun ), check it out and be safe...

My book Bridging the Chasm is a story of family, patriotism, sacrifice and perseverance during almost 30 years of the first half of 20th century that culminated in the building of an engineering wonder called Hoover Dam. It is a fast paced drama with a major flood, a WW1 battle that further propels the US Marines in American history and the building of an American Icon during the Great Depression.
