A small UX bug can have a big impact on usability.

In my custom social media app, a silent bug was preventing hashtags from saving correctly without providing any error message to the userβ€”a frustrating experience.

This video shows the process of identifying this workflow issue and implementing a straightforward fix to make the feature more reliable and intuitive. Sometimes the most important improvements are the ones that remove friction.

What's the most subtle or interesting UX bug you've encountered? Share your experience in the comments.

What does the real process of building software look like? A lot of the time, it looks like this: finding and analyzing interesting bugs.

I just recorded a live session working on my social media management app, and I found a couple of great examples of the kinds of issues a QA engineer needs to notice.

Here are the two issues I worked on in the video:

πŸ”§ The Usability Issue: A column in my app wasn't expandable, forcing the user to scroll to see long titles. While technically a feature I added, it was a bad user experience.

🐞 The Functional Bug: A counter for my content "deployments" was always showing zero. After digging in, I found the root cause: the value was hardcoded to '0' directly in the HTML.

The key lesson here for any tester is about developing the judgment to identify and advocate for a better user experience, even when a feature is "working as designed."

Your value as a QA isn't just finding crashes; it's understanding the difference between a usability flaw and a functional bug, and being able to communicate that effectively to the team. When you can pinpoint the root cause, you become a true partner to the developers.

What’s the most interesting bug you’ve found recently (functional or UX)?

If you want to build the fundamental skills that allow you to find and analyze bugs at a code level, my free "Software Testing Fundamentals" course is the best place to start. Link in bio.

You keep hearing β€œAPI” but no one really tells you what it means?
Let me fix that real quick.
This video breaks down how apps like Zillow, Uber, and even AI tools use APIs to talk to other apps β€” no confusing jargon, just real talk and real examples.

⚠️ I hate the term β€œAPI” β€” but not for the reason you think.
In this new video (and the whole series that follows), I’m breaking down APIs in a way that actually makes sense.
Not the textbook β€œApplication Programming Interface” nonsense β€” I mean what you really need to know to use them in real life and even make money with them πŸ’Έ

πŸ“Œ You’ll learn:
βœ… What APIs actually are
βœ… Why the definition is so confusing
βœ… Real-world examples (Stripe, Google Maps, etc.)
βœ… How to use APIs to build apps without reinventing the wheel
πŸ’‘ Whether you're a beginner or building your own project, this is the series to demystify APIs.

πŸ” API Testing Series – Part 4: - this one's about Postman Collections
In this video, I show you how I use collections to organize and save API requests in Postman. It's pretty useful stuff:

Save time by reusing API requests with different parameters
Keep your testing work organized when dealing with multiple APIs
See it in action with real examples using the Trivia API

This is part of my free Software Testing Fundamentals course that I share with folks who want to learn testing. Nothing fancy, just practical stuff that helps.
