Being prepared for natural disasters increases our resilience in the face of mother nature. Today we are looking at a plethora of storms all around us. Have a plan, communicate that plan with family and friends, and watch the radar. Listen for severe weather alerts. Be ready. Support each other in this.

In the past few decades we've seen an increase of impact from natural disasters. We have seen an increase of intensity from natural disasters. And the cold hard truth is that our critical infrastructure systems which our country so desperately relies on are far beyond their prime. Now more than ever, it is vital that we turn our country's attention to rebuilding the very structures that are our lifeline. From the power grid, to transportation routes, to water containment systems, it is time for a major overhaul.

To all of our Veterans who have served and defended us, we have literal oceans of gratitude. Thank you for serving and sacrificing that we may live free.

In light of the recent disasters that have decimated communities all across our country, we need to be focusing on community resilience more than ever before. And it begins in the mirror.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, one thing is painfully clear:

We are not nearly as prepared as we need to be for natural disasters.

Ultimately what we want is resilience in the face of life’s disasters, as we know that they are coming, and often times there’s nothing we can do to stop them. The best we can do is to increase our own personal resilience, and that will make our lives better as well as the lives of those around us. Let’s encourage each other along this journey.

Natural disasters are devastating beyond words, and we can see the effects they have on our country as billions in losses occur every year from their impact on our systems. However, we need to be aware of man-made disasters that can have similar effects in the long run. We must move forward with intention and plan with purpose to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves in the best way possible.

Natural disasters can strike swiftly, and our level of resilience is determined by how prepared we are for these disasters. Have you intentionally prepared for seasonal disasters in your region?

07/11/2024

All around us we see disasters taking place, and some of these disasters we can anticipate and know they are coming. The question remains then, what are we doing to prepare ourselves for these disasters so that we can lower their impact on ourselves once they arrive? As we intentionally implement incremental improvement every single day, we increase our own personal resilience, which in turn will make not only our own life better, but the lives of those around us - from our family, to our neighborhood, to our community, to our city, to our state, to our country, and eventually to the world.

As we celebrate the birthday of our incredible country, let us not forget the price that was paid for freedom and liberty. Let us encourage each other, let us grow in our resilience, and stand firmly on our founding principles. Let us stand together to protect it, for all time, always.

07/02/2024

We should strive to increase our individual resilience, because as we achieve this, we improve our own life and in doing so, we can make the lives of those around us much better as well.
