Daya turned $1.3M in scholarships into a launchpad for entrepreneurship and storytelling.

In this keynote, she opens with her latest short film before unpacking the mindset, strategy, and belief that turned scholarship applications into a springboard for an extraordinary career.

As founder and CEO of Elom & Co., an Atlanta-based production company amplifying rising creators through poetic films and community events, Daya shows that funding your future starts long before your first investor writes a check. She’ll share how the opportunities, networks, and confidence scholarships unlocked shaped her path — and how she’s leveraging AI to bring her creative work to life.
A Duke University alumna and the youngest-ever intern at Warner Media, Daya has built Elom & Co. partnerships with Amazon and Warner Media, and is an award-winning journalist and poet featured by Good Morning America and The Washington Post.

How 2-Way Mentorship Creates Cutting-Edge Innovation
Saturday, August 29, 2026 | 11:00–11:30 AM EST | Miami Beach, FL

Millions of patients with rare or undiagnosed genetic conditions face a long, painful road to diagnosis — marked by misdiagnoses, unnecessary testing, and years of uncertainty. AI is changing that.

Join Pete Martinez (Chairman & CEO) and Robert Cancio (Director of Product Development) of Sivotec Inc. as they share how cross-generational, 2-way mentorship fueled the creation of GENA 3.0 — an AI-powered genomic intelligence platform now deployed across 600+ children’s hospitals in 40 countries.

Hear how this partnership between generations is cutting diagnosis time from days to seconds, bringing expert-level genetic insight directly to the point of care, and expanding access for clinicians in primary care, pediatrics, and underserved communities.

Back-to-school shopping adds up fast — and for many families, it’s one of the biggest expenses of the year.

NMSDC partnered with The Zay Project to help ease that burden. Attendees spent Monday and Tuesday assembling backpacks stocked with essential school supplies for students in the Phoenix region.

The National Retail Federation estimates that parents may spend well over $800 in back-to-school supplies in 2026. A fully stocked backpack means one less thing a family has to budget for during an already expensive time of year.

Meet Jose Cruz — computer engineering student at Boston University and founder of his own scholarship, built to open doors for underrepresented students.

From applicant to founder, Jose knows what it feels like to doubt whether you belong — and he’s turning that into a mission to make sure other students don’t have to doubt it alone.

“It’s not about myself anymore — it’s about the next kid who needs to know it’s possible.”

Premieres tomorrow, July 15th at 3pm PT / 6pm ET 🎙️

I hopped on a bus to participate in a Yale Hackathon. 👾💻🖥️

Next week on the IOScholarships Superheroes podcast Jose G. Cruz-Lopez joins us to give students tips on how to create opportunities for themselves while pouring back into the community and participant insight on the whirlwind of a 24 hour hackathon at Yale University.

Everything Jose builds starts with one idea: turn the opportunities he finds into doors other people can walk through. Through Cruzing Forward, he shares the scholarships, internships, and roles that usually stay hidden from students like him. And with From Campus to Career, he’s building a free, bilingual space for first-gen students figuring it all out on their own.
