We just received an amazing client review. We are humbled to have helped this client start their project with an efficient design.

I’m raising the second floor of my 1800s cabin and I needed review for bearing on the first floor I worked with MWA Engineering and they were great. Not only did they tweak my original design to its best capability, but they also sat on a long phone call going over structural options and helping clarify all the questions and confusion we had. We are going into this project with not just a stamped drawing but a thoroughly organized plan and understanding, with the help of MWA Engineering.

T.J. Deane Joins MWA Engineering

T.J. brings more than a decade of cross-disciplinary experience to the MWA Engineering team, with a background that bridges civil engineering and the geosciences. He holds both a Professional Engineer license and a Professional Geologist registration — a combination that gives him a particularly grounded perspective on how structures, soils, and site conditions interact. At MWA Engineering, T.J. is responsible for structural design and project management, and he is spearheading the firm's monitoring services. His work draws on hands-on experience of site assessment and structural evaluation. He earned his degrees from the University of Maryland and holds a master's in geoscience from Penn State. Known for being responsive, thorough, and genuinely easy to work with, T.J. fits right into MWA's focus on practical, cost-effective solutions and lasting client relationships.

We are thankful and humbled by these client remarks.

Only a few states have specialty certifications within Professional Engineering registration. These specialties have specific testing requirements and indicate a higher level of knowledge in that discipline. We have obtained Structural Engineering (SE) certification in Arizona recognizing our knowledge in this discipline.

We had the privilege of looking into a 100+ year old bell tower today. We looked at how the stairs were constructed and assessed them for structural suitability. The construction was beautiful with mortise and tenon joints and old school steel supports. The stairs still look good. They don’t make them like they used to.

The engineer creed includes a provision to protect public health, safety and welfare. MWA-PE was performing a structural assessment today and found this. A 1/2” thickness of part of a too small of a beam holding up a second floor. This is seriously not safe. We immediately asked everyone to move outside and directed temporary shoring to make the structure safe. This is our creed and we live by it.
