Ricky Elam

Ricky Elam is our featured employee for July. Ricky is a vacuum truck driver out of our Snyder location since October of last year. Ricky sets himself a part from most by “going the extra mile” with his job. He is passionate about the work he does and prides himself on being safe. He is very confident in sharing his knowledge with fellow colleagues. He said, “it never hurts to teach them safer ways’. Ricky feels that our mechanics are our #1 asset by eliminating some of our challenges that we face daily. He likes the mechanics so much so that he would trade jobs with them by helping everyone get back on the road to operate safely in the oilfield. Then again being a yard manager like Jody Jones so that he can better help and support everyone. If one word summed up Ricky, it is integrity. He says, “ integrity is everything” so honor your word.

Ricky is a busy guy even outside work. He’s been married to his wife, Shannon, for 10 years. They live in a barndominium were he has built custom cabinets and is still adding on to the house. He builds cabinets for other as well. He is an inventor were all the proceeds are donated to others to modernize the world and not for his private gain. In addition to all that, Ricky takes the time to help his parents with mowing the grass on their land. Ricky said, “I could successfully live off of pot roast, carrots, and turnip greens” but the greens need to be spicy southern style. While he likes his greens spicy, he prefers the weather to be between 90° to –20° because the cab of his truck feels like 105° in the summer, he dreams of 70° degree places.

Remy Rodriguez

Remy Rodriguez is our featured employee for June. Remy works as a Hot Oil Operator out of the Post yard since January 29, 2024. Hot oiling involves heating up a load of oil and pumping it into a well or tank to remove deposits and to increase the well production. It is crucial that the operator works in a safe manner as there can be issues should the well or tanks have bad BSW (bitumen, sand, water). Safety is the most valuable lesson he has learned as it is important to return home daily. Remy has taken the opportunity to learn new jobs and new equipment all in an effort to better himself and earn a living. His favorite part of the job is the great people he works with and meeting different customers. With all this networking and skill building, Remy would like to move up in the company and become a yard manager. Remy described Standard as being “a family atmosphere”. Prior to working in the oilfield with Standard, Remy was a jailer for the sheriff’s department.

Remy spends his free time from the oilfield learning to play a guitar and hanging out with his family. His father is an operator on a pulling unit. Remy is a fan of the University of Texas, “hook’em horns”. Remy’s memoirs would be titled, Remy’s World because life is full of surprises. He loves the Mexican culture and wants to visit Mexico. In the meantime, he will settle for the authentic food at Jalisco's.

Bradley Dennis is our featured employee for February 2025. Bradley has worked as a welder in our Levelland rig shop since last August. His job requires him to weld and fabricate parts in the shop or going on service calls. As with most people, our main reason for working is to provide for our families and loved ones. Bradley said “this is honestly the best job I’ve had and hope to make a career of it.” He enjoys working with the Standard team and hasn’t met anyone he didn’t like. With every day, he is learning new ideas or techniques to use on future projects while obtaining more experience in his field. Due to the type of work he performs, sometimes it can be a tad difficult maneuvering the body in different positions to weld various parts of equipment.

Bradley has a beautiful 16 year old daughter that he has every weekend. His father is retired from OXY after 40 years and his brother was in the Navy for 6 years. He spends a lot of his time with family and friends going to restaurants and movies. He occasionally works around the house and watches football. Interesting fact about Bradley is that he has Batman branded on his right arm. If he wrote a book he would humorously title it Growing Up Levelland as it would be guaranteed to put you to sleep. According to Bradley, his mother makes the best egg rolls. He dreams of revisiting the Santa Monica Pier simply because he enjoyed it as a child.

This month Standard Energy would like to recognize Zarin Picon as our featured employee. Zarin began working with Standard on March 19, 2024 as mechanic in our Lubbock Shop under Glenn Parsons. His role with the company is to repair our big trucks and send them back to the field for work. Zarin enjoys learning and working on something new everyday as it builds his techniques and skills knowledge while making him a more confident mechanic. The experience he has gain while he has worked for Standard is important as he strives to do the best he can. Along with learning something new comes the challenges of diagnosing new issues and complexities of the unknown. Prior to working as a mechanic, Zarin did repair work on vehicles with hail or collision damage.

Zarin loves to spend time with his soon to be wife, Mandi and her two children Daven and Mady. Daven keeps them busy with sports and Mady is attending Angelo State University. Zarin would like to go to New York to experience the different cultures in the area as New York was once the main entry point into the United States. His most favorite meal is chorizo and egg burritos as he grew up eating them homemade.

Juan Parras

This month Standard Energy would like to feature our Pump/Vacuum Truck Driver, Juan Parras out of our Stanton yard. Juan has been with Standard since July 13, 2021 and is the only night driver out of Stanton. He credits his longevity with the company to a good attitude with his fellow coworkers, a steady paycheck, and a great relationship with his manager, Gabe Lopez. Communicating with fellow drivers, Juan Baeza and Sean Dudycha, has helped him with his job and he likes to help out with new hires. He feels he has a good shift as a night driver, but it has its challenges such as traffic and animals. Before becoming a truck driver for Standard, Juan was a sergeant for TDCS from 1999 to 2013 were he supervised 50 officers as well as an armed guard for UMC for 9 years. To describe Standard, Juan quoted the 3SQ; Safety, Service, Satisfaction and Quality.

Juan and his wife, Stacy, have been married for 36 years and they have two children Blake and Kaleigh. They have 3 grandchildren; Santiago (6), Everleigh (5), and Emiliano (3). Interesting fact about Juan is that he can repair cars, trucks, and motorcycles as well as play a guitar. If we were to write a book, he would title it Times Get Rough & Good, meaning the way things get with work and family. It is hard being away from his family but the joy of being together makes it all worth while. Now when he is off work he likes to take Stacy to Albarrans for beef fajitas as it rekindles the feelings of being young and dating. Juan daydreams of taking a trip to Key West, Florida which is the farthest south point of the US and ride his motorcycle and relax in a hammock with a cold drink staring at the sunset.
