This transformation from builder-grade beige ceramic tile to antique Old Chicago brick is beyond breathtaking. The material sourced for from this custom job came as full bricks from an abandoned building and were taken and cut four ways to create equal pieces with unique and beautiful faces for installation. The pattern we decided on was a soldier course border, offset and varied straight running bond, with contrasting transitions to break up the large room and keep it from looking like a brick road. We also chose to incorporate broken pieces, mixed in strategically to give the old/authentic look of traditional brick installation, where no amount of material would have been wasted.

Because we couldn’t find exactly what we wanted, the grout/mortar selection was a custom mix of two separate colors of authentic brick mortar. The result was similar to a traditional lime mortar, appropriate for soft antique brick. Not too gray, not too tan, not too white or too dark or light. The finished product was sealed multiple times for a durable, waterproof, yet matte finish. We could not be more thrilled with this beautiful outcome.

Reach out today with any of your construction needs. Heirloom would be honored to help get your home where you long for it to be.

It’s one thing to go through the unexpected and painful as a family, but going through it as a small business adds another layer of stress and complexity.

We just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our current clients, those who are in our contract lineup, and those whom we have consulted with and are in the middle of the planning agreement process. We undoubtedly have the best clients in the entire world, and we could not be here riding this storm out with our girl, if it wasn’t for the compassion and understanding of each and every one of you.

Yesterday, as our hospital chaplain came by, he had seen Jon in here night after night and said, “You know, it’s very unusual for a father to be here beside his family. I just want to let you know, you are doing the absolute best thing for them by being right here.” Tears of thankfulness flowed, because we understand that reality and how rare this is for both parents to be able to be going through this for our girl, together. Part of that is possible because we have compassionate and understanding clients who have assured us it’s ok to be here in this time.

There is no greater blessing in this business than the trust of those we serve. Thank you for helping us in this moment as a business, but also a family. We are so incredibly grateful.

A little behind-the-scenes glimpse into a bathroom renovation design for some beautiful past clients. As you can see from the carpeted steps in the before pictures, this primary bathroom suite greatly needed an overhaul. The owners lacked the vision and potential for their outdated space, so we got to come in and do what we do. Without changing much of the actual footprint of the room, we were able to create a fresh and timeless concept - maximizing storage and proposing a clean elegance that could hold long-term practicality, beauty, and value.

Whether you know exactly what you're wanting, or you need a set of new eyes to provide solutions for your space, we are a one-stop shop that can tackle both the creative knowledge + necessary construction for every situation.
