Our first project in Utah 🤝 Utah's first floating solar project

Mountains in every direction, and the Signal Hill treatment plant sitting right in the middle of them, running around the clock. Treating water takes a lot of power, so the array went on the plant's retention pond instead of disturbing the scenery.

There's something new floating on Twin Lakes Reservoir. ☀️

Lima's 2-megawatt solar array is officially constructed to feed the water treatment plant next door. Not one acre of farmland was used to build it. The panels went where nothing else could go: the water.

Here's a fact we love: the floats under these panels are made of HDPE, the same material as the pipes that carry drinking water to your tap. 💧

Safe enough for your water supply. Tough enough to sit on a pond for 25+ years.

The world's first floating solar in the auto industry is right here in Orlando. 🚗☀️

While Cox Automotive's Manheim Orlando site had no spare land (it's covered in cars), it did have a retention pond. That pond now runs 1 MW of solar, floating on water the site already owned.

The Village of Monroeville, Ohio (population ~1,300) is pioneering the way with the largest floating solar array in Ohio (and one of the largest in the country), harnessing 6 megawatts of clean energy on its own drinking water reservoir. By repurposing existing water, they're preserving 20+ acres of land for future generations. 🌞💚

Red, white, and clean energy independence🎆

This July 4th, we’re looking back at a historic milestone on Big Muddy Lake at Camp Mackall. Years ago, we launched the Department of Defense’s very first floating solar plant!

By floating 1.1 MW of clean solar power directly on the water, the system preserves valuable training land for our Special Forces at Fort Bragg. Paired with a 2 MWh battery, it creates a self-sufficient microgrid that safeguards critical operations if the main grid goes offline.

🤩 Here's one we're proud of. 6 years ago, we built New Zealand's first floating solar array, on a wastewater treatment plant in Auckland. At the time it was the largest solar project of any kind in the whole country.

It's still running today, generating enough power for around 200 homes a year and cutting 145 tonnes of carbon. People ask how far we'll travel for a project: we say "only as far as New Zealand"😆🌍

Our panels like to keep their cool 😎

Solar panels lose power when they get too hot, and that happens on exactly the afternoons when everyone's running the AC and the grid needs power most. Ours float, and the water keeps them cooler, so they hold their output through the hottest part of the day.

One more reason floating solar beats the rooftop kind. ☀️
