Update on our January Caulking Special (Now February's Special)

January ended up being really cold (even for Michigan), and with the freezing temps we weren’t able to schedule as many caulking projects as we normally would. Caulking in the wrong conditions just doesn’t hold up the way it should, and we never want to rush something that affects your home long-term.

Because of that, we’re extending our January Caulking Special into February as weather allows. If you were hoping to get on the schedule but the timing didn’t work out, this gives you another chance once temps cooperate a little more.

We're back! We've been locked out of our page and finally have access again. We want to reintroduce ourselves and tell you a bit about our business. We'd love you to share, comment, like this post to get word out about our business.

Myself (Mary) and my husband Ron own this small residential construction company in Middleville, MI. Ron started working construction in high school while doing a construction management program offered by KCTC. After graduating he apprenticed under my dad (also a residential & HVAC contractor), worked for a residential framing crew on and off, worked full time at Bradford White, all while building our family homes (over and over again). During this time, I got my degree at MSU in Elementary Education with a minor in Math. I was a 5th grade teacher for 6 years and turned SAHM with the adoptions and births of our 5 children. In 2017, Ron decided to get get his building license and in 2018 Breckon Construction was born as a husband and wife residential construction company.

What makes us different? We do this business for our family. We want to be able to attend our kid's school and sport events, be there when they get off the bus, go on vacations, and be involved in our community and church. To achieve this, we've stayed a 'two man team', investing in our own equipment, completing all our own work (subcontracting almost nothing out), and creating an authentic, honest relationship with our clients. This allows us to keep our pricing affordable and keep a flexible schedule.

What is our passion? We obviously love the nature of making things new again and fixing existing problems. We operate our company by genuinely caring about the people we service and getting to know them. Construction is a very short staffed profession in these current times - causing labor prices to (rightfully) increase drastically for the skills contractors have trained for. Our company strives to help out the underserved and struggling class of Americans. In our 7 years of ownership, we have never raised our labor rates, however in 2025 we will be making the decision to increase our labor rate for jobs booked in 2025, due to cost of living increases. (If you book in 2024, you'll still be under our current rates).

What do we do? We do it all! Ron is a licensed and insured residential contractor. We are not licensed for Plumbing, HVAC, or Electrical work but work closely with contractors who share our same vision. We love to teach you if you're willing to learn--we believe in empowering homeowners in learning how to do some basic upkeep (and more) in your home. New build, additions, remodels, flooring, decks, siding, painting...we do it all. There are few things we don't do, including some tile work and concrete.

How does our schedule work? We have been blessed with never needing to go out and find work in our 7 years of business because of word of mouth and like many others contractors - we have had to turn away a lot of clients these last few years. We are typically booked out on average 18 months-2 years in advance. We have changed this up and will only accept bids during November and March. We plan to book a year out while still keeping some openings for emergency work. Many of our clientele is returning clients who ask us back regularly. We always reserve two months of the year to schedule our returning clients as a priority.

If you’ve driven through Delton recently, you may have noticed this big guy going in. We demo’d an existing garage and are putting up this garage/polebarn to provide storage for all their needs. Stay tuned for finished pictures once steel goes on.

To our amazing clients, we are currently booking into late fall/early winter going forward (pending no cancellations). We were able to give this commercial space an uplift. This was a full siding, soffit and trim tear off. Rotting under board was replaced and all new siding was installed. This completely changed and updated the look of this building.
