Our thoughts go out to everyone that was affected by last nights severe weather.
As the region begins assessing the damage our emergency response crews are actively dispatched across the region, remediating sites impacted by storm-related hazardous spills.
While cleanup is underway, we know that field managers and safety teams are working hard to clear debris and secure facilities. If your crews are out on the ground today, here is a quick checklist to help them stay safe around hidden storm hazards:
Watch the ground, not just the trees.
Flooding and high winds can breach secondary containments or displace industrial storage drums. If you see unidentifiable pooling liquids, discoloration, or chemical odors, keep your distance and call in a certified team.
Steer clear of downed poles.
A knocked-over electrical pole isn't just a shock hazard. Damaged, leaking transformers can spill hazardous fluids onto the surrounding soil. Treat the area around any downed utility line as a contaminated zone.
Suit up properly.
Standard work gloves and boots aren't enough if you're dealing with storm runoff that has mixed with leaked oils or chemicals. Ensure your team has the proper chemical-resistant PPE before handling debris near a suspected spill.
Our specialized Emergency Response team is operating on a 24/7 basis to handle the complex, hazardous cleanup so your crew can focus on getting your facility back on its feet safely.
Stay safe out there today. If your site needs immediate environmental remediation, we are ready to mobilize instantly.
