2021 Race Up Rock Creek

2021 Race Up Rock Creek A joint research project of MT Fish, Wildlife, & Parks, Trout Unlimited, and MT Natural Resource Dam Sponsor and name a fish in the Race!

What is the Race Up Rock Creek? Every spring, rainbow and cutthroat trout congregate in healthy tributaries of the Clark Fork River in preparation for their upstream journey to spawning grounds. For the 4th year in a row, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks tagged and will track mature trout in Rock Creek as they race up the creek to spawn. You can support this joint research project by sponsoring a fi

sh, or you can follow along on the race map. We learn a lot by tracking and studying fish movement, including:

1. Location and quality of spawning habitat
2. Location of barriers that block fish passage and spawning
3. Causes of mortality

The information helps fisheries managers and TU conserve these wild and native fish species and their habitats. Help support this joint research project and our efforts to make the Rock Creek fishery the best that it can be for years to come.
