Could SpaceX Be The First Corporation to Own A Planet?
As the SpaceX IPO approaches, traditional market valuations seem to be tossed out the window. After all, a $1.75 Trillion market cap is 1,000 times Spacex's current gross annual revenues.
But 21st century investors have learned to play the long game by investing in great leaders and by investing in a company's current and projected market share.
Amazon famously lost money for a decade while reinvesting in market share. From selling books to now the largest retailer in the world with no retail stores.
Uber's IPO in 2019 had a $84 billion market cap while losing $4 billion a year. Back then Uber had a 50/ 50 chance of survival over the next 5 years, as every taxi cab authority in the country was gunning for them. Now their market share is approaching a monopoly as they launch autonomous cars.
SpaceX currently launches 90% of all satellites worldwide. With over 600 launches and a safety record of 93.6 %, SpaceX is positioned to dominate the launch market for years to come.
SpaceX’s market share and proven technology more than justifies their IPO valuation.
SpaceX could be the first private corporation to own a planet in this solar system. Under the 2015 commercial space act, any company that successfully lands and utilities any celestial body’s resources can lay claim to those resources.
In other words, SpaceX could outright own Mars in this century. Talk about market share.
What will Mars be worth in 50 years?
$1.75 Trillion maybe cheap when looking back in 30 years.
