14 years ago when I created SPICE (the most dominating collegiate chess program in history), many did not believe that a woman can coach in this level. Many students were reluctant to join. Today, there are dozens on the wait list each year as we do not have enough space for everyone.

Stephanie Ballom was my first recruit in Texas. She flew in from NY to attend my retirement party yesterday. 🙏
