Since projects are in congested areas, such as a tight urban environment, several unique obstacles arise.
The job site may be within city limits and require standard rig layout reorganization to fit equipment within the work zone. Additionally, there may be anchor limitations under the job site from neighboring pipelines. This requires specialized adjustments to ensure safety and accuracy. Congested areas also raise the conflict of increased populations, requiring increased security and safety around the job site to minimize disruptions.
These obstacles make HDD even more necessary. HDD preserves existing infrastructure, landscaping, and roads, avoiding the massive disruption of traditional open-cut trenching.
By avoiding or greatly reducing the need to break ground, traffic flow is maintained, and businesses remain accessible, minimizing economic impact.
