It all starts with high-carbon steel heated until it’s glowing red, then hammered into shape using powerful presses or traditional forging techniques. Once the axe head is formed, it goes through heat treatment to harden the blade for sharpness and then tempering to keep it tough instead of brittle. The edge is carefully ground and sharpened, the eye is shaped for a tight handle fit, and the surface is finished to resist rust. Finally, the head is mounted on a hickory or composite handle and perfectly balanced, turning raw steel into a tool built for real work and decades of use 🪵⚒️
