What are you watching this weekend? 📺 📱 🖥️

JT Magen has enjoyed working with the Netflix and Netflix House teams on several projects over the last few years, including an expansion of Netflix Studios Albuquerque and two Netflix House locations in Philadelphia and Dallas.

𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗳𝗹𝗶𝘅 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲
Want to experience your favorite stories beyond the screen? Check out Netflix House – with locations at King of Prussia and Galleria Dallas – a permanent, free-to-enter destination where fans can play, eat, and shop their favorite Netflix shows and movies, with offerings updated regularly.

This growing trend of experiential destinations at retail venues opens the door for the adaptive reuse of vacant space at malls and shopping centers to capture customer interest and keep foot traffic coming through.

𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗳𝗹𝗶𝘅 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗲
To continue making the shows and movies we love to watch, Netflix enhanced its existing production and studio space in New Mexico. The expansion added more than 400,000 square feet of soundstages, support buildings with areas for wardrobe, hair/makeup and millwork, editing, office and screening rooms, and two dedicated exterior backlots. 🎬

Infrastructure for a 16-acre solar field with battery storage, geothermal HVAC, and all-electric systems was installed to help Netflix achieve its goal of a lower carbon footprint and reduced long-term operating costs.

We look forward to bringing Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth and Netflix House Las Vegas to completion!

In our digital world, screens are everywhere.

Across commercial, retail, and hospitality spaces, as well as transit and healthcare facilities, screens have evolved beyond conventional uses to serve a wide range of purposes. While still utilized used for presentations, video and photo sharing, and team connectivity, they also support wayfinding, branding opportunities, graphics, schedules, menus, data, and timely notifications. 📺

As technology becomes more integrated with design, screens are being installed in more unique ways beyond the traditional wall mount. This requires close and early collaboration among the project team to ensure adequate infrastructure, accurate installation, compliance with safety protocols, and proper for maintenance, all while maintaining aesthetics and functionality.

Because technology is often built or assembled off-site and delivered for installation near the end of a project, teams must plan carefully for the finished condition, whether framed by glass, metal, or millwork. To pre-build a space that can properly accommodate an AV feature, teams often use field fabricated wood templates as placeholders. Key factors – such as a dust-free environment, proper heat ventilation, voltage requirements, and fire suppression – are coordinated between the general contractor, design team, carpenter, electrician, and AV and HVAC technicians. 📱 🔌

Have a look at a few of our projects that feature AV elements as an integral part of the design.

JTM CGI, an affiliate of JT Magen, delivered a 17,536-square-foot, full-floor expansion for Bain & Company’s Los Angeles office at 1999 Avenue of the Stars in Century City.

The addition of a full third floor to Bain’s LA office allowed the management consulting firm to create an inviting reception and amenity space to be used by staff and clients. Designed by HLW, the new floor features a fresh, modern design that harmonized with the existing aesthetic while using design elements that reflect the vibrant energy of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.

Amenities include a multipurpose room with a Skyfold operable partition, client-facing conferencing area, meeting rooms and collaborative office spaces, coffee bar, pantry and lounge with a biophilic wall, restrooms, and a hidden speakeasy. JTM CGI worked closely with Bain and the millwork team to create a hidden door behind a picture frame to fully conceal the secret space.

It was great to work with the Bain team on this new space for the company; and a special thanks to John Maher, program director, global real estate at Bain & Company for your support and collaboration.

Get a birds-eye view of this confidential new data center in Miami that sits at a primary network exchange point linking the Northeastern U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

JT Magen served as construction manager for the project, which allows AI deployment through high-density power, rich interconnection, and direct access to subsea cable. With a footprint of 720,000 square feet, the building is constructed of precast concrete with a painted stucco exterior and extensive steel dunnage on the roof. Because of its location in South Florida, the data center features resilient and secure infrastructure for extreme weather conditions.

JT Magen navigated the project team through weather disruptions, safety precautions, coordination with local officials and regulations, and complex structural demolition to deliver a data center that met and exceeded the clients’ needs. The project has a powerful interconnection ecosystem with fast, secure, and cost-efficient data exchange. It also features N+1 redundancy for heating and cooling systems, which eliminates a single point of failure.

This data center met rigorous global benchmarks for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility and complies with guidelines issued by the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact and the EU Code of Conduct, which promote energy efficient best practices and goals for data centers. The building also carries 100% Wind RECs from Texas and Oklahoma vPPAs and wind/solar Green-e RECs from the U.S. and Canada.
