Celebrate Earth Day with us Saturday, April 19th, 10a-3p, Governors Island

Catch us at Governors Island ’s annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 19! We’ll be in Colonels Row from 10am to 3pm with Just EcoCities to demonstrate our Tidal Planter pilot, a "wetland-in-a-box" that uses the natural cleaning power of a salt marsh to remove pollutants from New York Harbor and has the potential to bring this ecosystem to walkways and promenades throughout the city. Sharing this reminder of a lovely spring day with Trust for Governors Island and all the inspiring members of our Water Abundance Climate Solutions Challenge cohort. It's been exciting to see the critical work of Duro UAS, LÆRO, OBJECT TERRITORIES, RETI Center, and Seaweed City take shape. Looking forward to partnering with Biohabitats to operate our for a full season and develop lessons learned.

Just EcoCities is just barely two months old, and this I'm so grateful for those who have been part of this journey, especially:

- Inspiring entrepreneur friends Bake Me Healthy, Wei Hu, Esq. and small business ally Christine Chn
- Seed funding from the Trust for Governors Island Climate Solutions Pilot Program and the incomparable Lauren Wang
- Partners Biohabitats and Kevin Dahms, PE, for leveraging our respective strengths to pilot the Tidal Planter and make NYC
- Organizations like Guardians of Flushing Bay, The Serica Initiative, the New York Climate Exchange, and the Harbor Climate Collaborative for opportunities to showcase my work
- The amazing community at Ellevate Network, Women and Climate, and NY Climate Tech, including Kelly Donlon Hoy, Deb Boulanger 💫, Tracy Keough, and Gabi Logan; and,
- My husband, the consummate self-starter, Peter Ong, for his unwavering support as well as his vision and intuition as we work to seek the peace of the city (Jeremiah 29:7).
