Tiny Mansions

Tiny Mansions Tiny house with mostly reclaimed materials and help from lots of friends. It lives in Vermont, US After this, I was started and couldn't stop.

I felt the need to have my own space and had dreamed about tiny houses for years. Finally Solarfest in Tinmouth, VT asked me to do a workshop and have people build a wall of the house! In the year following I worked on the house enough to make it more comfortable and bring it to Solarfest again the next year! It is not complete and some people just thought it was ugly but others saw the beauty of

what we had built and the idea behind it. We used lumber cut from some pine trees that were headed for the burn pile and cedar that had been lying around for years. All the windows were bought used or found. Even the inverter came from an older solar system. My hope is that I can finish the electric, solar system and maybe plumbing, and then sell it to someone who needs it because I've already got my sights set on building another one!

Big thanks to all of you who are interested in the Tiny Mansion and the tiny house movement in general. I haven't posted much in the last few years but the house is still great! It's still in Vermont. It has a minor carpenter ant infestation but it's holding up! :)
Wherever you are on your tiny house journey I wish you the best!

The time has come to move the MANSION. Does anyone know where I might find a double axle flatbed trailer 12+ feet long by 8 wide and 6,000 to 8,000 GVW in the New England area? I would like to make the move from Chittenden VT to Kensington VT. Does anyone have any advice?

As you can see, it has an inverter on the front under the window for solar and can be plugged into the grid as well. The interior is not complete. While not of the walls are covered, there are still spots where the foam insulation is showing. There is one small sleeping loft and storage loft on the opposite side. It does not have plumbing yet. It has a spot for a wood stove with an installed stove pipe. I can't sell the stove that is in it now for sentimental reasons.
The honest problem with transporting the house is the single axel trailer is not approved for the amount the house weighs. I can only guess that it is around 8,000-9,000 lbs. it made it on a 60 mile round trip but it bent the hitch on the truck. It does have 8 ply tires which helps with the weight but it's a little scary to watch it wobble over pot holes. I would recommend hiring a moving company and then placing it somewhere semi permanent. If I do find another trailer that would work better, I may transfer it over so it can be more portable.
