Last week, the Petra team attended the Construction Institute 50th Anniversary Celebration at its Annual Dinner & Awards event, held at the beautiful Society Room of Hartford.

We were honored to receive a Membership Milestone Award recognizing Petra's 30 years of membership and support of the organization.

The team had a great time celebrating at last night's Connecticut Building Congress Annual Project Team Awards!

Petra Construction was honored to receive an Award of Merit in the Higher Education – Large Category for the Farnam Memorial Building 4th Floor Renovation project.

The project transformed 9,000 square feet into advanced research laboratories while upgrading critical mechanical systems—all within an occupied facility. Close collaboration among the construction team, trade partners, designers, and facility staff was essential to the project's success. Through BIM coordination, detailed planning, and proactive communication, the team resolved complex routing challenges, phased rooftop work, and maintained uninterrupted operations throughout construction.

Thanks to the dedication and teamwork of everyone involved, the project was delivered more than a month ahead of schedule and under budget.

Congratulations to the project team, our outstanding design partners at Centek Engineering, Inc. and Joseph Sepot Architects, and the many talented partners whose contributions made this achievement possible.

Last week, we attended the SNEAPPA Conference at Connecticut College in New London. It was a great opportunity to learn and hear from industry leaders from everything about managing complex renovations in fully occupied buildings to leveraging facilities data for institutional success.

While this is work we are very familiar with, we always value the chance to keep learning and hear new perspectives.

Thank you to all the speakers for sharing their insights, and to Justin Wolfradt for the campus tour. We were blown away by how beautiful the Connecticut College campus is!

The Lux Bond & Green project was a full interior renovation of a 3,900 SF luxury retail space, delivered on an accelerated schedule to support reopening ahead of the holiday season.

With the store fully closed during construction, success depended on detailed pre-planning, tight coordination, and disciplined ex*****on across all trades.

Working in close collaboration with Stabach Architects, this was far from a typical retail fit-out—intricate detailing, layered ceilings, dense lighting, and high-end millwork required precise sequencing and alignment across teams. Petra partnered with the design team, ownership, and subcontractors to manage long-lead materials and proactively resolve field challenges.

The result: completed ahead of schedule and reopened in November in a polished, luxury setting.

Feeling lucky today. ☘️

The Petra crew came together for our annual St. Patrick’s Day potluck lunch, and the clear fan favorite was Brian’s infamous corned beef Reuben sandwiches.

Good food, good company, and a reminder of how lucky we are to work with such a great team. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all who celebrate!
