Your brickwork might be telling you something — are you listening? 👀🧱

Catching brick damage early can save you thousands in repairs down the line. Here’s what to keep an eye out for:

🔹 Cracks
Horizontal, stair-step, or vertical — especially around corners and mortar joints. These can signal shifting foundations or structural stress.

🔹 Spalling
This is when the surface of the brick flakes or peels away. It’s often caused by water getting trapped and freezing inside the brick. Spalling weakens the brick and invites more damage over time.

🔹 Efflorescence
Those white, chalky stains on your brick? That’s salt left behind when moisture evaporates. It’s a sign that water is moving through your brick — which it shouldn’t be doing regularly.

🔹 Loose or Missing Mortar
Gaps in mortar let in water and speed up deterioration. It’s a small fix now… or a bigger job later.

👉 The earlier you spot these signs, the easier (and cheaper) it is to fix them.

🔹 Built to Last
Many older bricks were made from denser, high-quality clay and fired at higher temperatures, making them incredibly durable. Paired with traditional lime mortar, they’ve stood the test of time — and they’re still going strong.

Every time we restore or rebuild using original bricks, we’re not just repairing — we’re preserving the craftsmanship and character of the past.

It’s about more than just aesthetics — it’s about honoring materials that were built right the first time.

Old bricks, new life. 🧱✨

This brick column light was falling apart, but instead of replacing it with all-new material, we chose to restore it using the original bricks. Why?

Because bricks like these tell a story.

Unlike modern bricks — which are more uniform and mass-produced — these older bricks have a timeless, rustic character that’s tough to replicate. Each one is slightly different, with unique tones, textures, and imperfections that give it charm.

They’ve already withstood the test of time, and when possible, we re-use them to preserve that authentic look while still making sure the structure is sound and solid.

A little care goes a long way in bringing classic masonry back to life.
