One variety per lane, pickers on both sides, and gravity does the restocking.

Roller conveyors are a cost-effective way to stage plants for mixed orders. Put a different color or pot size on each short roller and the picker builds the combination as the cart passes. On a larger system the team pulls full carts of a single product, or a few trays of several, onto the center belt to complete a customer order. When a lane runs down, new product goes in at the high end and coasts to the front on its own, so restocking takes no power and no forklift. One installation we built supports 179 SKUs, which is a figure for that greenhouse rather than a limit on the system.

A flood floor filling and draining. Five to seven minutes in, five to eight out.

Full recirculation, so the fertilizer goes back to the tank instead of into the ground.

Fill, hold for the larger pots, drain. Recirculation is the part that changes the running cost, because the water and the fertilizer in it return to the tank rather than leaving the building. Optional in-floor heat reduces heating costs and creates a microclimate in the canopy. The crop never moves through any of it.

Hand trimming, without the labour.

Blowers lift the foliage, side blowers square the plant, and every pot comes out the same.

A jack system sets cut height in seconds with no tools, the clipper stops itself between pots, and indirect suction reclaims the cuttings rather than dropping them back into the crop. Two builds of the same trimmer: the Venti 3 carries the larger canister, the Venti 4 is a slimmer build for tight aisles. Optional Gardena blades handle soft stems, industrial shears handle woody ones. The result is uniform, ready-to-ship plants, pot after pot.

Push a stake into the pot. That is the install.

Ground drip covers large areas at low flow rates, and the pipe arrives pre-punched to your spacing.

Capillary action does the rest once the stake is in the media. Two drippers go in big pots, a single dripper in small ones, and large outdoor applications use pressure-compensated drip so delivery stays even across a long run. It is built to be specified once and lived with: 7 plus years running daily, up to 20 years on seasonal use. Valve tree manifolds ship preassembled, and the system is drench-capable for fungicides.

Forty-eight planting fingers, every one moving on its own.

A pinching spade gripper lifts the plug without push-up pins, so the same machine runs 512-cell trays down to 50-cell.

The RW Series transplants up to 48,000 plugs an hour depending on the model, into flats, shuttle trays or pots 6 inch and up. Independent finger movement keeps placement right the whole way across the machine. Touchscreen control with wireless technology, electronic depth and tray-height adjustment, and freshly set trays move straight into the watering tunnel. Four machines on one platform: the RW1000, RW1500, RW2100 and the RW2100 Twin.

It crosses the walkway with the water off, then picks back up over the crop.

Left and right sides run independently, so two crops under one boom each get their own recipe.

Water goes on plants instead of concrete, which also means less humidity to vent back out and a drier aisle for the people working in it. Irrigation is programmed by crop and by zone, and extra nozzles can be targeted at the areas that dry out fastest. Nozzle options cover different watering needs, and several hose management configurations are available depending on how the house is laid out.

A thousand nursery pots an hour, pulled off the stack one at a time and tipped upright ready to fill.
1-gallon through 15-gallon, with mechanical size changes.

Loading pots by hand ties up a crew member for a whole shift. The CD-X1 separates them from horizontal stacks and tips each one upright onto your inline conveyor instead. It runs 6.5 to 15 inch diameters and needs no special tooling to change size. A 10 inch colour touchscreen shows pots dispensed, runtime and machine status, and PLC control with variable frequency drives keeps the output steady. Built to UL508a and CSA C22.2 No. 14. Put it at the head of the potting line and one person can keep the whole line fed.

Twenty-five years of flood floor design, in twenty-four seconds.

Flatter floors mean better crop uniformity and less shrink. From hydrangeas to poinsettias, it all grows here.

In the early 2000s the concrete went down on an aggressive slope, because that is what the concrete of the day required. It works, but it costs you uniformity. Slopes are gentler now and the crop shows it. Floors commonly fill in 5 to 7 minutes and drain in 5 to 8, and a full recirculation system saves water and fertilizer. AdeptAg was involved in projects totaling over 25 acres of concrete flood floors in 2025, with another 20 acres underway.
