The FAA is proposing a new way for critical infrastructure sites to protect their airspace from unauthorized drone activity.

Under the upcoming UAFR framework, eligible facilities could apply for a federally recognized “no-fly zone” extending up to 400 feet above their property.

But approval would require more than just an application-sites must already have strong security measures in place, including controlled access, monitoring systems, and Remote ID receiving capabilities.
