Sharpen the Saw — At Genesis Fluids we never stop learning.
Stephen Covey’s 7th Habit, “Sharpen the Saw,” is about continuous improvement—taking time to maintain and refine the tools that make success possible.
In drilling operations, the same principle applies.
A drilling fluid system that worked yesterday won’t necessarily work tomorrow. Formations change. Pressures shift. Solids load increases. Torque creeps up. Small changes can create big consequences.
That’s why the best drilling programs constantly evaluate and refine their systems:
• Adjusting fluid properties
• Managing solids control
• Optimizing lubrication and filtration
• Monitoring torque, drag, and ECD trends.
Even something as fundamental as filtration control and filter cake quality can determine whether a well runs smoothly or turns into a troubleshooting exercise. A thin, low-permeability filter cake helps seal formations, reduce invasion, and prevent problems like torque increases, differential sticking, and poor displacement efficiency.
Great drilling performance rarely comes from a single product or a one-time decision.
It comes from continually sharpening the saw—reviewing data, refining the system, and applying engineering discipline every day.
At Genesis Drilling Fluids, that mindset is part of the culture.
Because the wells that run the smoothest are usually the ones where the team never stops improving.
