Tree platform.

This is part of a multi-thronged project. I will be building another platform downhill from this one, about 200 feet away - this will be a ZIPLINE! My daughter and I will be building a tree house on the giant tree adjacent to this platform with a swinging bridge connecting them.

For now, it's just a platform with a slide, and I connected a slackline I've had collecting dust for the past decade to hold a swing and some gymnastic rings. We'll be adding to that as well.

Once I get my chainsaw blade sharpened, I'm going to cut up some fallen timber and build "trunk tower", several cuts of trees cut at different lengths, bundled together. This will be to climb on and have fun on but also to climb up to the platform, instead of regular steps.

Deck Restoration - before and after

800 sq ft. I had to rebuild the long step on the lower part of the deck and modified it to look better. Also used thicker deck boards and did 2" trim around the steps. Used an edge decking screw system so they are not visible from the top, and they provide a stronger hold. Can't wait to stain it in a couple months!

Shed rejuvenation.

I used a trolley jack and replaced a couple foundation trusses to level this sinking shed, and replaced and painted all the trim for Dawn and Frank. They then recommended me to their neighbor, whose deck I'm helping to revitalize. Thanks for the referral!

Shed lean-to.

For several years we had 2 11-foot paddleboards in our already packed garage, taking up valuable storage space (we're on a slab, no basement l. I measured the depth of the back half of the shed under the eave and it was 12 feet, perfect. Also perfect because I wanted to do corrugated steel roofing to keep it cheap and give it that rustic look, also to bring some continuity to the other side of the yard, the firewood rack with the same roof. And those panels come in 12 foot lengths. I determined the width of the lean-to by the width of the panel, 4 feet. Perfect dimensions to serve our needs. I used the same weather- resistant paneling that was already on our shed and re-painted it all to blend seamlessly.

We store some of our outdoor gear such as camping equipment, paddleboards, co****le boards, bike racks, etc. I have a door on the end to easily pull out the paddleboards and an access door on the side as well, with locks on both.

This has created so much extra space in a garage already hungry for storage area. Let me know if YOU have a similar problem and want a solution for your problem - I'll travel within 20 miles of Ortonville. Cheers!

Firepit bench.

I dug an area to put a firepit in the side of a hill and it wasn't until a week later that I determined that I didn't dig back enough and the space was to close to put chairs to the pit. Then I realized the ground on the hill side is at the perfect distance for chairs.

So I built this bench into the ground. I angled the back a little bit, and added cupholders.

The one thing I would do different and can modify is making the back a little higher. But it's worked out great 🔥

Next job is to stain the retaining walls and bench to match.
