Fall 2025 CAMPUS KIDSTECH LESSONS THIS WEEK 4!
Our STEM 4 Kids and Young Inventors programs are back for week 4, engaging young minds in hands-on learning! This past Wednesday, we continued our learning with our lesson 4, hosted by Oswego's Department of Technology and prospective Technology Education teachers from SUNY Oswego.
Here’s a glimpse of what our explorers and future innovators learned in the final lesson:
Grades K-1: Our young programmers programmed their Kubo Robots to find the hidden treasure, and became pirates themselves, just in time for Halloween next week; Grades 2-3: Students this week were rockstars, literally! They used Makey Makeys to create and wire a fully functional Guitar, we can’t wait to see them in concert, and possibly our future audio engineers!; Grades 4-5: our older robotic experts programmed their Edison Bots using EdScratch, and worked into teams to have Edison navigate a maze; Grades 5-6: our young spy agents communicated via binary to solve which other spy that their Microbit was paired with ahead of time! They graduated from spy school and now are members of the Young Inventors Intelligence Agency.
What an unbelievable four weeks we had learning about the Technology and Engineering Contexts of Computation, Automation, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (Grades K-1 and 4-5) and Information & Communication (Grades 2-3 and 5-6). The children left with lots of STEM learning materials to continue their learning and exploration at home, which is made possible through the support of National Grid.
We ended the evening with a celebratory social of learning this semester, which included an address from Dr. Laura Spencely, Dean of College of Education, Health and Human Services SUNY Oswego.
Thank you to everyone who was involved with KidsTech this year, everyone from parents, to teachers, to supporters make this program what it is today and help fuel a spark of creativity and importance of STEM literacy and problem solving in the lives of our youth.
Our TED 306 students are working hard to provide a valuable learning experience to students, and are also learning and having valuable experiences. Our TED 201 students are being dedicated teaching assistants for the classrooms. We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to National Grid; with your donations throughout the years, we have increased participation in and the quality of the programs!
