🌽🐄 SUCCESSFUL CALF RECOVERY IN LEROY, MN 🐄🌽

Late last night, SkyView Drone Services received a call about a missing 1-week-old calf near LeRoy, Minnesota.

The calf had disappeared into a corn field where the vegetation was tall enough to completely hide him from view. Even though the owners had a general idea of where he was, locating a small calf in dense corn after dark is like finding a needle in a haystack.

With the calf needing a bottle and temperatures cooling off, time mattered.

Using our thermal drone, we arrived after dark when thermal conditions were ideal. Despite being completely concealed by the corn, the calf's heat signature stood out on the thermal camera. We were able to pinpoint his location and direct the owners straight to him.

A short time later, the little guy was safely back home enjoying a bottle and getting plenty of attention after his adventure. 🍼❤️

This search is a great example of how thermal drone technology can help locate animals that would otherwise be nearly impossible to see from the ground, especially in tall crops, thick vegetation, and large rural properties.

🐾 "After weeks on his own, Blue suddenly came running out of the woods and straight back to his family." 🐾

Moments like this are why we do what we do.

Several weeks ago, Nikki contacted SkyView Drone Services MN after her beloved cat, Blue, went missing near Caron Park in Faribault.

Over multiple nights, we conducted thermal drone searches of the area. During those searches, we repeatedly located a cat matching Blue's description. We were able to monitor where he was spending his time, document his locations, and most importantly, confirm that he appeared healthy, active, and doing alright.

Each time we located him, we communicated directly with Nikki, sharing photos, videos, GPS locations, and observations from the field. This helped narrow the search area and gave the family something incredibly important during a stressful situation: hope.

Throughout the process, Nikki and her family did exactly what lost pet recovery experts recommend.

They stayed calm.

They stayed patient.

They didn't chase Blue through the woods.

They didn't pressure him.

Instead, they focused on understanding where he was, set traps in strategic locations, worked with neighboring property owners, and continued returning to the areas where Blue had been seen.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.

Nikki and her family quietly sat in the woods near one of Blue's known locations. They talked softly, waited patiently, and let Blue make the decision.

And he did.

Blue emerged from the woods and came running straight to his family.

After weeks of uncertainty, the reunion finally happened.

While thermal drones are an amazing tool for locating lost pets, tracking movement patterns, and confirming a pet's condition, this story is a reminder that successful recoveries are often a combination of technology, patience, and owners who are willing to trust the process.

Receiving Nikki's message that Blue was finally home was an incredible feeling for all of us at SkyView Drone Services MN. Being able to play a small part in reunions like this is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Yesterday morning, another lost pet made it home safely!

A few weeks ago, SkyView Drone Services received a call about a missing cat just three blocks from my home in Owatonna. Because the search area was so close, I was able to check for this cat multiple times a day whenever I had a chance.

Many nights, I would return home from searching for other lost pets and do a quick drone search of the area before heading to bed. For weeks, we came up empty and never spotted the cat.

Then one morning around 5:00 AM, after getting home from another search, I decided to fly the area one more time before calling it a night. This time, I spotted a cat I had never seen before hiding in the area.

I immediately contacted the owners, and they went to investigate. Sure enough—it was their missing cat! Unfortunately, the cat was frightened and ran when they approached.

Rather than rush things, we developed a plan. I provided the owners with a large live trap, and we set it up near the area where the cat had been spotted. The very next day, the cat walked right into the trap and was safely reunited with its family.

Just like that, home safe and sound. ❤️

This recovery is a great example of why local searches can be so effective. When a lost pet is in Owatonna or nearby communities, I can often search the area multiple times a day at different hours, increasing the chances of locating a pet that may only be active during certain times.

Thank you to the owners for trusting the process and staying patient. Another happy ending and another pet back where it belongs!

We’ve been extremely busy lately helping search for lost pets, so we haven’t had much time to post all of our recent recoveries.

In the last 2 weeks, we helped bring home 3 dogs and 7 cats!

We are also very close to helping 3 more pets get back home.

Leaving at 1:00 AM tonight for a 5-hour drive to help search for a missing dog. 🐾

This is the side of lost pet recovery most people don’t see — the late nights, long drives, and urgency that comes with trying to bring someone’s pet home.
