Had my youngest son out on a job with me recently, and those are the days I enjoy the most.

The property owner had several large deadfall oaks and pines that had been blown over during past hurricanes. They needed to be sawed up, moved out of the way, and cleared so he could start reclaiming that portion of his pasture.

Any day I can bring one of my boys along, give them a little seat time in the equipment, and teach them a few things along the way is a good day in my book.

They may or may not choose to do this kind of work when they get older, but learning how to operate equipment, work safely, solve problems, and understand the value of a hard day's work are lessons they can carry with them no matter what they decide to do.

And beyond all of that, sometimes it's simply about having them there with Dad, hanging out, talking, working together, and making memories while we're getting the job done.

Those are the kinds of workdays you don't mind lasting a little longer.

Sometimes the best time to prepare for the rain is before it gets here. 🌧️

This property had an existing man-made pond that had gotten extremely low during the dry conditions, so the property owner decided to take advantage of the opportunity and do a little pond maintenance while the water level was down.

We dug a deeper section within the existing pond, giving aquatic life a deeper refuge if the pond happens to get low or partially dry again in the future.

With forecasts pointing toward a strong El Niño pattern and the potential for increased rainfall, the property owner took the opportunity to prepare the pond now so it can take full advantage of those rains if they develop as expected.

But we also planned for the other possibility.

If rainfall totals don't reach what’s forecasted and the pond remains lower than desired, we constructed the pad in a way that will allow a much larger excavator to access the area in the future. That machine would be able to reach the existing pond banks and deepen the pond further if needed.

So whether the rains come in strong or Mother Nature decides otherwise, the property is now better prepared for the future.

A deeper refuge for aquatic life, improved water-holding potential, and access already planned for a larger machine if more work is ever needed.

We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately…

Turns out it’s hard to make Facebook posts when you’re actually out doing the stuff you’re supposed to be posting about. 😂

Between loading equipment, running the mulcher, keeping up with estimates, and trying to knock out jobs, the social media department has been severely understaffed.
