It’s easy to fall in love with a remodeling idea online – the oversized kitchen island, the wall of windows, the beautiful flooring, the dramatic lighting, or the perfectly organized mudroom. But there’s a big difference between something looking great in an inspirational photo and actually working well in your home, especially when that home is in Alaska. Here are a few things worth thinking about before making those big remodeling decisions.

Window Pro Tip: Don’t choose new windows based on convenience alone.

The right windows should fit your home, budget, and priorities. Before you buy, compare options for energy efficiency, durability, noise reduction, and privacy—especially when choosing windows built to handle Alaska’s climate.

A little research upfront can make a big difference for years to come.

Your septic system usually gives you warning signs before it fails—you just have to know what to look for.

🚩 Slow draining sinks or tubs
🚩 Recurring plumbing backups
🚩 Standing water near the drain field
🚩 Unpleasant odors outside your home
🚩 Extra-green grass over your septic area

While these symptoms don't always mean you need a full replacement, they are signs that it's time to have your system inspected. Catching problems early can help you avoid bigger repairs down the road.

Have questions about your septic system? Our team is here to help you determine the best solution for your home.
